Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Saul Alvarez is to fight Floyd Mayweather Jnr in a someones 0 has got to go matchup with titles on the line. I have thought about this fight and I just cant see Alvarez winning. Matt Hatton went 12 with Alvarez who couldnt put Hatton away. If Alvarez cant KO Mayweather and I dont think he can, Mayweather will get the points decision. I may be wrong but I dont see either man winning by KO. Alvarez has to be the toughest fight for Mayweather so I dont see anyone beating him. I think Mayweather will know when to go so I dont think anyone will beat him and get the glory of beating the top man in boxing today. I think he will retire and become an ATG,a legend who beat every legend put in front of him. Just my opinion, what do experts think. Waylon.

I suspect Floyd wants Alvarez now instead of 3 fights later. Floyd wins wide - 118-110.WildWaylon wrote:Saul Alvarez is to fight Floyd Mayweather Jnr in a someones 0 has got to go matchup with titles on the line. 14/09/2013 According to Boxrec. Neither fighter has a fight before that date. Not that far away, just after the summer break. Interesting score, I think it will be closer than that.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
He`s certainly not unbeatable.
I`d beat him for a start, but with the politics involved, I doubt I`d ever get a shot.
One punch could spark him, it has happened before (McCallum v Curry). No man is an island and ergo Floyd AKA Money Mayweather, could get caught cold/flush one day. it happens.
Great fighter, the best of his generation, but time will rub his edges as it does with all men and some young lion will pish on his parade one day. He is so greedy that he will fight wherever there is money.
Alvarez is unlikely to beat him, but Kell Brook is another matter entirely.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Mosley caught Mayweather with a great punch. I think it would take a perfect punch to beat Mayweather, or several very good ones. Landing those on Mayweather is a nightmare. He's such a great pure boxer that I can't see anyone around who would outbox him.forcefraser wrote:He`s certainly not unbeatable.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Great fighter but unbeatable? In this era where fighters cherry pick who they want to fight and when, is it any wonder? Best of his generation but history will place him accordingly and no, nowhere near the top and no, he is not unbeatable.
A great, extremely talented fighter, though.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
I've never really been blown away by Saul Alvarez and remember he was in a world of trouble when flattened in the second round, against Cotto's lightweight brother, up at 150-odd pounds.
This will be another Mayweather vs Baldomir affair, with the slow footed Alvarez trailing Floyd round the ring for twelve long tedious rounds.
I don't get the attraction with the fight at all.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Tell Castillo he's unbeatable. But Floyd was injured i guess. And you're citing Hatton as evidence that Canelo lacks power? That was some time ago and Canelo was drained in his efforts tio hit a catchweight which he missed. I guess it could happen again now with this bogus catchweight. KO ratios speak for themselves. I guess Matthysse don't hit that hard because Judah and Alexander went t the distance. Forget every single one of his other opponents who didn't make the final bell.

At welterweight how do you think he would have fared against a peak Leonard, Hearns and Duran?

I think he would have lost to all three although Duran was at his best at lightweight.Manchester Massive wrote:At welterweight how do you think he would have fared against a peak Leonard, Hearns and Duran?

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Mayweather has fought the best out there and still keeps winning. Of course hes beatable if anyone with a big punch can catch him flush but with such a defense up to now nobody has tagged him and had him in real trouble. Kell Brook is a great fighter but but I dont see him in Mayweathers league. Canelo isnt fast enough and I think Mayweather will play with him and win most of the rounds. Mayweather is a very well preserved 36 year old and his fitness and skills will I believe see him through yet another top level fight. If we look back at the greats, I agree people like Leonard and Hearns may have beaten him but looking at those around today I dont see anyone with that potential.

Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
Mayweather would be competitive with hearns or leonard or duran, all because of his superb defense. When asked how he would fight Mayweather, leonard said he wouldn't even try to his floyd in the chin, he would aim for the top of his head. He reckons it's near impossible to catch floyd flush. Even if he does get caught flush, he's got an iron chin. Mosley caught him flush with a huge right hand and Floyd took it. Mosley is a very big puncher too. He actually landed 2 flush right hands in that round, one was bang on the chin.

Of course nothing is Impossible, but I would be absolutely shocked if mayweather retires with a loss on his record ! And if he was that greedy dont you think he might of fought pacman for a cool $50M ?forcefraser wrote:He`s certainly not unbeatable.

Alvarez has a lot to prove but his Mexican so retirement will be hell if doesn't. So a 3 rd loss to Mayweather and making PBF a distant memory won't hurt his legacy
Re: Mayweather unbeatable IMO
brook is scared to fight alexander so what makes you think he would fight the best of our generation? do you think floyd would of struggled with a carson jones??? me niether.forcefraser wrote:He`s certainly not unbeatable.

I dont agree at all.. even though i dont like comparing fighters as its all speculation about who would beat who.. but i think Mayweather would be to much for them and that would include barkley....Deserter wrote:I'd tend to agree.lillywhite14 wrote:I think he would have lost to all three although Duran was at his best at lightweight.Manchester Massive wrote:At welterweight how do you think he would have fared against a peak Leonard, Hearns and Duran?

I respect anyone opinion as we are allowed to have one but i really dont think brook is scared of alexander at all ... it wasnt just one sided over the pull outs... brook looked genuinely gutted when he had to pull out the last time ....
Lucky for brook that he faced jones to realise that he had to focus more on fitness... and as eddie stated that kell needs to pull his finger out and get more professional when it comes to training...
i hope kell can show soon how good i think he is... :)
