Shane doesn't like fighters from the rhubarb triangle
Re: Shane Mcphilbin
Guy should retire , going nowhere and should count him sled lucky he can call himself a former British champion , the cruiserrweight division in the uk is terrible to say the least
Re: Shane Mcphilbin
Why should he retire? He can make decent money as a journeyman who used to be the British champion.the truth wrote:Guy should retire , going nowhere and should count him sled lucky he can call himself a former British champion , the cruiserrweight division in the uk is terrible to say the least

Still plenty to offer. I thought he was robbed in PF as well. Scored a legit knockdown and it wasnt counted. That was the difference in the scoring.

Re: Shane Mcphilbin
Leigh won the 1st rd , and then the bout was stopped in the 2nd due to the cut .
Looked like Leigh was in fantastic shape and was confident although im sure he would have preferred a few more rounds .
Of the other bouts on the show ---
Terry Maughan beat Rick Boulter on points in what was a descent contest .
Jason Booth was superior in outscoring his opponent who if i remember correctly was Ryan McNicol .
Shane Mcphilbin drew with James Oliphant in a fight that i think shane seemed very disapointed in himself , i did score it as a draw but shane said after the bout that he thought he was lucky to get the draw , or words to that effect . To be fair rather than criticising shane id say that Oliphant made a nuisance of himself and smothered shanes work etc , made things uncomfortable , it wasnt great to watch but i think its only fair to give the opponent a bit of credit .
Also can i point out to whoever wrote the front page news article that you have added 10 losses to Ian Baileys record for some reason

Cheers for the write up appreciate that mate.
Gutted for Shane, I know he was looking to get back to winning ways.
Saw Leigh at weigh in! Looked in tip top shape!

Re: Shane Mcphilbin
He didn't look great and admitted as much after. The bout had lots of holding/clinching and very little clean work. It was announced at heavy because both boxers were over the 14st 4 cruiser limit. Shane weighed 15st 8lb iirc.matko wrote:He got a Draw with winless James Oliphant

It was actually announced as a cruiserweight bout .
although yes they both weighed around the same , shane was definately 15st 8 , Oliphant may have been 15st 6 i think
Re: Shane Mcphilbin
Thanks for the replies, just curious to know why he moved to heavy and I thought as much Oliphant isn't the most technical fighter

Shane hasn't moved to heavy as such. He just took a fight on an under card at an agreed weight that is above his usual fighting weight. Happens quite a lot on under card bouts.matko wrote:Thanks for the replies, just curious to know why he moved to heavy and I thought as much Oliphant isn't the most technical fighter

Can I just point out shane damaged is shoulder at the end of the second round. He is going hospital tomorrow as it keeps giving him problems. I think a drew was fair really.

Re: Shane Mcphilbin
Ill probably give him a bell later , i do vaguely remember him mentioning his shoulder but in total honesty i was rushing back from the bar at the time as Leigh was just getting in the ring so i wasnt fully paying attention .clintonmcphilbin wrote:Can I just point out shane damaged is shoulder at the end of the second round. But like i said earlier in the thread , lets give Oliphant credit , he made it as difficult as possible and got the best result of his career so far .
Re: Shane Mcphilbin
with all due respect....james oliphant is one of the most unskilled professional boxers i have ever watched live. very very disappointing.damianhucker1 wrote:Leigh won the 1st rd , and then the bout was stopped in the 2nd due to the cut .
