Anthony Crolla
Anthony Crolla
can he do it this weekend?
a win over rees won't be easy.
hope he can do it. one of the most consistently exciting british fighters and he can be quality when he settles into that rhythm.
rees is regarded as being in the top 10 world class despite being hammered by broner. if crolla can really impress, could it lead to a European or world title shot (Burns)?

Re: Anthony Crolla
Brilliant fight I like both lads so will just sit back and enjoy a great fight.
Crolla's opponents have being such high quality.

Re: Anthony Crolla
No chance wide points for Rees.
Re: Anthony Crolla
Rees is on a level up from Crolla methinks. Crolla decent at British level but Rees is a decent Euro level operator who has a world title on his record so I don't see Crolla doing this.
Re: Anthony Crolla
Gotta go with Rees. I think he's on another level to everyone domestically at LW, barring Burns. Saying that, Crolla really impressed me in the 2nd half of the last fight with Mathews, the way he dug in but also showed some great skills. So you never know.
Re: Anthony Crolla
I like Crolla but i dont see him having a chance.
I think Rees hits harder than Derry and throws more combinations. We've seen how derry hurt Crolla so i suspect Rees will win by KO.
I still think Crolla should move back down to super feather

Re: Anthony Crolla
rees' world title came from surprising m'baye in the first 6 rounds and then holding on for the next 6.TheCobra wrote:Rees is on a level up from Crolla methinks. crolla's had ups and downs but the crucial thing he can make improvements, he's been in intense fights and i think he's ready to inflict punishment. reckon if crolla plays it right early, rees could be easy pickings when he tires in the late stages.
crolla did lose to sykes, matthews etc but we've seen what a couple of losses can do to a man's career - i.e. jamie mcdonnell and ricky burns...
would love to see crolla impress and get the fight with burns.
all this about levels - crolla can take it to another level vs rees.
Re: Anthony Crolla
Rees all the way, from round one to whenever it ends. Crolla is a lovely boxer to watch and has real guts but does not hit hard enough to discourage Gavin. I think Rees will bust him up and tire him out and Crolla will be stopped on his feet. There are no easy bouts in this division - they are all tough, hard and skilled. I think it will be great to watch.
Re: Anthony Crolla
I'm takin Rees to stop him in a war can't wait for the fight to come around

Re: Anthony Crolla
Agree Rees is favourite. But Rees has shown signs of gassing out in the past, so I think if Crolla can make him work at a pace that he doesnt like Rees could gas out late & Crolla takes it on points.
Re: Anthony Crolla
methinks the key is to take rees' body. 1) it brings his guard down 2) it tires him, and we already know he's likely to tire down the stretch of a fast paced bout - and when he's tired his guard drops and is open for brutal shots to the head.pyenest77 wrote:Agree Rees is favourite. like I say, all this stuff about levels. an aggressive fighter gets the proper momentum, inflicts some hurt, then he takes it to the next level. and the fighter on the other end takes it down a level. crolla has been hardened, he's the one showing improvement and I think he's the one with something to prove, and will prove it in a great offensive matchup.
rees will be sneaky and dangerous early/mid fight, he'll be a nightmare to hit clean early. crolla must keep tight, compact and focused, keep a level head, be as sharp as he can and work in gradual stages, until he takes over.

Re: Anthony Crolla
I think Rees stops him in the first half of the fight.
I like Anthony and I've met him in person a couple of times he always has time for the fans and seems genuinely nice guy.
Wish he would fight at Superfeather

Re: Anthony Crolla
I'm a big fan of Crolla, behind Froch he's my favourite British fighter - no nonsense, proper fighter.
I think Rees will just have too much zip for Crolla though, who I can see shipping a few due to Rees' fast hands. Good fight. Really looking forward to it.

Re: Anthony Crolla
are some of you sleeping on crolla before the big fight?
are most of you not even looking forward to it, if rees is such a sure fire winner?
I recall before foster jr vs kirakosyan, foster was "a level below" and had "no chance"!

Re: Anthony Crolla
Foster did marvelous against Leva, very unexpected and I was happy for him though I loved Leva' style. Rees doesn't depend on his power though, he wears them down, he won't change his game and I'm looking forward to it as they are both very good fighters to watch.Autobarn wrote:are some of you sleeping on crolla before the big fight?

Re: Anthony Crolla
good luck crolla you can do it
Re: Anthony Crolla
It's a fight I'm looking forward to, Crolla is game as they come, but to me he's had to dig deep against lesser men than Rees so it would be a fairly big surprise if he wins.
