Burns undercard 7th September.

Post by geoffburt07 »

Same suspects as the last time. But who would we like to see in the away corner?

John Simpson - he said yesterday that he could be dropping back down to Featherweight as he can still make it. Good fight against Josh Warrington if they can make it. If he stays at SuperFeather the obvious choice is Buckland.

Stephen Simmons - called out wladi Camacho yesterday but am sure I heard Matty Askins name being mentioned for him.

Micheal Roberts - in a busy division but a good fight for the fans would be him v Ronnie Clark. Both Scottish, both unbeaten. Fights been spoke about before but never happened. Throw in a Scottish title.

David Brophy - wouldn't mind seeing Brophy box Boulden again too be honest. Was a close fight and am sure both would be willing to do it again.

Jon Slowey - would like to see him in with Davie Savage Jnr. Another all Scottish fight. None of them can really bang but both very nice boxers.

Scotty Cardle - boxing for a Celtic title at lightweight. So would be a good scrap with Curtis Woodhouse.

I for one would love to see Roberts fight Ronnie but that has been done lots on here and there is no chance of that fight happening. Scott Cardle should fight Mitch Prince for the Celtic title I'm sure he could make lightweight easy and would be a cracking scrap. Don't think Cardle is ready for someone like wood house just yet.. Or even a rematch with Maxi Hughes was a lot closer than what the judges had it.. The other fights are more than possible I think with the exception of Simpson I think he will get an easier fight after that fight with Choi. Slowey and Savage Jnr would be a cracking fight both very technical would be a chess match

I dunno if Mitch could make the weight anymore. If so I think it's a good fight. Still like Cardle v Woodhouse to be honest. Has Ronnie ask about the Roberts fight lately? I don't think John Simpson does easy fights. Lol.

Yes don't think he does. I would personally rather see Ronnie fight Simpson but by the sounds of it his Head is set on going to featherweight. I think the problem with Roberts is they are taking things slow. I believe he would lose to Ronnie but learn a lot from the fight but can't see them risking the 0

Hatton won the purse bids for Buckland-Simpson and Buckland is on the Cleverly undercard so I'd guess that Simpson would take his British title shot instead of fighting on the Burns undercard.

May be but he was at the press conference yesterday and was announced on it. And ifilm interviewed him. That's when he said he could still do feather.

Cardle wasn't that impressive against Maxi Hughes.. I've not seen Mitch fight live but from what I hear he was very unlucky against Willie Limond.. Couldn't see Cardle stopping him. Is this the way to go whatever promoter a coach/fighter is with there stable gets talked up ha.. Cardle would get stopped from Woodhouse in my opinion but humour me Billy what level do you feel Cardle is at just now :)

Davie I was ringside when cradle beat Hughes and he boxed excellently, good movement, jab and fainting well. I think hes 2-3 fights away from fighting for British/commonwealth no problem.
I think in all honesty Mitch shouldn't have been fighting for the title against Willie although he done well, there's guys in that division like Bradley Saunders,Adil Anwar and Darren Hamilton who are far more worthy challengers imo

Limond was never going to stop Prince not sure Cardle could Billy but then again Cardle is a lot younger fitter than Limond

daviddee how do you know Prince could make lightweight easy when you've never even seen him box ??
and your man Ronnie boxed Maxi and by some accounts won but got a draw did yous ask for a rematch
how do you think Ronnie would do with Cardle or Prince

I agree completely about the fight with Limond and Prince.. Prince is a lightweight who moved up to to fight for the title..Billy as for the fight I watched it on Tv and thought it was very close but you were at Ringside so I will take your word for it. As for Maxi against Ronnie the rematch was offered I'm sure but was a while ago.. Both a weight category above Ronnie over the longer rounds Ronnie would have stopped Maxi and I think the same would happen with Cardle. Ronnie's intentions are at Super Featherweight he makes that very comfortably. I think both Maxi and Scott were more deserving of a commonwealth title fight than prince but he seemed to step up.. I think both are more light welter than lightweights be interesting to see how they do. Stephen Ormond is up at lightweight or even Paul Appleby if he is ready would be a good match for the Celtic title
