Rees vs Crolla
Fired a few quid on the rock to win by KO/TKO/DQ at just shy of evens.
Good result for Crolla last time in avenging Mathews KO loss even if the decision was razor thin. Rees is another step up and only lost to 2 world champions, i don't think Crolla will be lookin a million bucks come Sunday.
How'd you see it going?

Re: Rees vs Crolla
I think Rees can stop Crolla yes, but I'm not sure about Evens, I might have a little tickle but those odds aren't amazing as Crolla is generally pretty tough and only been stopped the once.
Re: Rees vs Crolla
If Crolla can withstand the typical Rees aggression early I think he is bang in this fight, the key will be getting to the period where Gavin dips which is normally rounds 6 or 7 to 9 or 10, he then gets a second wind and finishes well. If Crolla is strong in those rounds I think he can win this with body attacks, had a bit of the early 3s Crolla but I can see the reasoning that Rees is a tidy favourite.
For Crolla to win he has to do everything right, for Rees to succeed he just has to perform as he normally does.

Re: Rees vs Crolla
before the 1st matthews fight i had quite high hopes for crolla and i did the first few rounds but when matthews started to find range crolla started to look fragile with lack of movement and poor defence in close... the rematch was a great fight but still highlighted crolla's weaknesses ... i think rees will take advantage of crolla frailties and rees cos of size likes fighting in close.. rees as matthews said is a class above.. however if crolla has worked on his weaknesses then who knows i do genuinely like crolla though... but he do well just to get a euro belt..

Re: Rees vs Crolla
i think Crolla will take this down the stretch if he can weather the early storm
Re: Rees vs Crolla
Rees is really looking solid of late.
I think if Crolla can keep his boxing together and not get caught up in a brawl, he can use his movement and speed late on and use his jab to win on points.

Re: Rees vs Crolla
how much did the beating from Broner take out Gavin though ?
its a good fight though , its what we need in British boxing right now

not that much, he just thumped by single shots from a bigger man for a couple of rounds, it's not like it was Vitali vs Briggs. I don't think that will factor in it, if anything it just shows how tough he is.

This for me will be massive, I've never seen Gavin Rees being handled the way that Broner handled him. That could seriously scar Gavin mentally and if Crolla was to start really fast he could cause an upset.
But I don't think Crolla is slick enough or hits hard enough to make Gavin worry that it could be happening again.
Gavin Rees to win by late stoppage or wide points decision.
Re: Rees vs Crolla
Crolla would do marvelous as a super feather; he seems to be training up to the weight whereas many of the men he is boxing are training down to the limit; they are just to physically strong and insistent for him. It's hard to want either of them to lose as they both come across so well but my 10 bob is on Rees, once he is in his groove and at this level he really does take some keeping up with; Anthony is a lovely boxer to watch, so tidy and organised and I think this will be a fantastic bout.

That dip happened in one fight versus Watson and everyone jumped on the bandwagon,he never dipped in a hard fight against aderry did he?GlobalBox wrote:If Crolla can withstand the typical Rees aggression early I think he is bang in this fight, the key will be getting to the period where Gavin dips which is normally rounds 6 or 7 to 9 or 10, he then gets a second wind and finishes well. Re: Rees vs Crolla
Didn't happen in just one fight though Billy, watch the Andy Murray fight again and watch 7,8,9 against Watson as well, it's what he does, I stated he comes back together again and to his credit reproduces what he does early in a fight, his weakness will be if someone is taking him on heavily at the point the dip occurs, with the greatest respect he was on top of Derry around that area of the fight that it happens to him so it did not arise against Derry.billy nelson wrote:That dip happened in one fight versus Watson and everyone jumped on the bandwagon,he never dipped in a hard fight against aderry did he?GlobalBox wrote:If Crolla can withstand the typical Rees aggression early I think he is bang in this fight, the key will be getting to the period where Gavin dips which is normally rounds 6 or 7 to 9 or 10, he then gets a second wind and finishes well. I actually thought Crolla edged the rematch and was unfortunate not to get the nod.desperados wrote:Fired a few quid on the rock to win by KO/TKO/DQ at just shy of evens.

final third, rds 9-12 is when rees is at his most vulnerable. gavin got derry out of there in the 9th of their war.billy nelson wrote:That dip happened in one fight versus Watson and everyone jumped on the bandwagon,he never dipped in a hard fight against aderry did he?GlobalBox wrote:If Crolla can withstand the typical Rees aggression early I think he is bang in this fight, the key will be getting to the period where Gavin dips which is normally rounds 6 or 7 to 9 or 10, he then gets a second wind and finishes well. i'm hoping crolla can do some body damage, grind rees down earlier on, and get him out of there late - at his most vulnerable stage. if crolla can get to this part I reckon he can have gavin looking outgunned.
rees will be so dangerous early. he's like a little spinning top with that head movement, very tricky and can steal the openings with his timing and countering. and Derry's shown everyone that crolla has openings to be taken. thankfully crolla took far less damage in the 2nd fight. crolla v derry 1 and 2 remind me of barrera v junior jones 1 and 2. a domestic version of it. barrera getting caught, being too open; the old pro having to steal these openings with power shots and stopping the guy around halfway...then the rematch with barrera not quite getting the win, but tidying his game up and doing a lot better...barrera had a rough year or two, but then put in amazing performances vs morales (1st fight) and naz...i'm hoping this all has made crolla stronger, getting back to his sharpest boxing and earning the career best win that will set him up nicely.
