And Chisora, Cunningham and Johnson? The same Grant beaten with one punch by McCeel? Stopped by Guinn and wide points loser to Adamek, the bloke everyone thought Cunningham beat?
Michael Grant was stopped on a broken ankle versus Jameel McCline.

Michael Grant on his way up beat Andrew Golota, Alfred Cole, David Izon, Obed Sullivan, Lou Savarese, Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Lionel Butler, and Ray Anis, among others.

I wouldn't mock his CV and try make out that Tyson Fury has in some way accomplished more. He hasn't.
I thought he broke his ankle going down from a PUNCH? Hardly a murderers row the above named, either though! I wouldn't mock Tyson Fury's CV in every way possible to try make it look like he has accomplished nothing.

Imagine the Grant that took it to Lewis, taking it to Fury. That's why I can envisage a prime Grant pole axing Fury. Golota would have too.

As for Lennox? Embarrassing to even consider a prime Lennox against someone like Fury. I like Tyson but lets not pretend he is something he isn't. Big, tough and game won't get you anything other than knocked out against greats like Lennox.

Yep, a punch but him down, the sort of shots he had taken without issue prior to the pummelling Lennox Lewis issued him.

It's so early with Tyson Fury, we don't have the complete picture, he's already been down against carefully selected opponents, I think it's fanciful to mock someone like Michael Grant and make out that Fury is already better than him.

Dismiss those victims if you like, but Golota, Savarese, and Butler could seriously hit. Anis and Gonzalez carried more of a whack than the men who put Fury down. And when Grant fought journeymen there were the likes of Ross 'TKO11 Wlad' Purritty in there. Grant was built up against more dangerous men than Fury, it's far too early to say Fury was better than him. Right now a prime Grant would look a lock to flatten Fury.

Grant hurt his ankle against McCline not Lewis. Can't believe this thread has gone to 3 pages. A blind man could pick Lewis inside 2.

No one said Grant hurt his ankle against Lewis, we're talking about the McCline fight.

That being said, I do vaguely recall him suffering some sort of ankle injury versus Lewis, not that it made much difference either way. I think I recall this, not totally sure.

Lewis says: ‘When Fury says he would have smashed me and is better than all the great heavyweight champions down the years, I say to him: Who are you? You will never accomplish anything like as much as the men you are disrespecting.’

He adds: ‘Tyson has been knocked down by cruiserweights, His chin is vulnerable. Timberrrrrr….

Thank you.

I've been giggling like a child after their first fart for about four hours after reading that post.

Thanks again.
You tell me of any boxer, in any weight class, who successfully came back and defeated a top contender off the bat after a decade of inactivity? Cus I can't. Even Foreman needed twenty some odd fights before he beat someone of that caliber.

He was. He's just pulled out of a final eliminator to box a very recent former world champ. Do you even follow boxing, mate?

That might make him a CONTENDER; and even that isn't the case until he actually fights for a world title.

Not a 'top' contender though.

Y'know, like the one that David Haye held.

Haye did indeed hold a version of the World Title, he also held a couple of versions of the Cruiser title at the same time as Fury ko victim Cunningham. Your point is?

...that Fury hasn't proved himself as 'world class' yet and when ridiculing a GOAT should STFU.

(I've never argued Cunningham was a world class cruiser - definitely not world class heavy though...)

Who do you have as World class Heavies? Obviously not Adamek, Fury, Johnson or Cunningham. That nearly halves the top ten!

Johnson has beat nobody, Adamek got battered against the first world class heavyweight he come up against and Cunningham is a past it former "titlist" cruiser. His IBF strap when Haye was champ was a paper belt. The original title was stripped for money purposes from the true IBF champ prior to Haye beating him and becoming unified champ.

Kevin Johnson's a fornicating joke, man. Awful fighter. Ran from an old Vitali all night.

Last I checked that was Vitali Klitschko, who may very well be a top ten heavyweight himself. That's not too shabby a loss really when you think about it.

That's the only world class heavyweight Adamek has fought though. A fit Chisora put up a better fight against Vitali. Adamek, at heavyweight, was nothing to write home about.

There are very few world class heavyweights right now.

So far Adamek has defeated....

Chris Arreola, Kevin McBride, Vinny Maddalone, Michael Grant, Travis Walker, and Cunningham (in reality it was a draw overturned into a decision win). Not too bad really, and I think I may be missing a name or two among that. Fringe contenders, Prizefighter competitors, former world title challengers. The era may be weak, but Adamek was a champion at LHW, CW and has won many minor belts at HW and contended for the world title, and he probably will again before he retires.

The fact that Fury beat Cunningham, who was essentially robbed against Adamek, who defeated the likes of these men shows that Fury is a bonafide top ten man. If he does indeed beat Haye that will make him automatically the #3 heavyweight in the world. Even if he loses to Haye, he is still top ten worthy. This is a man who makes Malik Scott and Eddie Chambers look like crap in sparring and they are two of America's best heavyweights.

As I said, Adamek hasn't beaten anyone worth beating. He is bonafide top ten but that says more about the division.

His achievements at light heavy and cruiser seem to count ( I actually agree ) in your eyes yet I bet you are one of these that plays down Haye's own achievements at a lower weight!!

If Fury beats Haye he will be top 3 ( or 4 ) but there isn't much chance of that happening.

Chambers and Scott are mediocre at best and I have never seen a title for heavyweight sparring champion of the world before!
