Gavin Rees

Post by TheCobra »

I can't understand a word he says hahaha!!

Somewhere in the mumbles I think he said he thought he'd won the fight and so that's why he was messing about at the end. Bizarre really. I had it Crolla by 2 rounds.

I thought it was close and rees nicked it but it could of went either way and cant argue crolla winning, however the commentating was abit biased in favour of crolla in my eyes for atleast first half fight anyway

I thought Crolla edged it. But neither he nor Rees deserve a shot at burns.

McCrory was an absolute arse tonight. Fight could have gone either way to be honest so no complaint about the decision but the commentary :shame:

Yeh the commentary was pretty pathetic, they were at times just completely refusing to acknowledge any of Rees' work whatsoever.

how about this forum?

no credit for crolla whatsoever.

not even a thread on the poor bugger!

we hear more about sky commentary and ricky burns than crolla, who's just scored a hard fought, career best win over a former world champion in a fight that ranks with the outstanding european title fights (though this wasn't an EBU title fight you wish it was).

Rather than moan why didn't you start a thread?

It was a very close bout but I thought Crolla nicked it; Rees wasn't his usual self and looked tired very early (from the 3rd he was standing off and looking upset); Crolla did a very good job and there could be a rematch in there, it was very competitive. The commentary was pro Crolla; the UK lightweight division is packed with very closely matched and game boxers.

I thought Reese won it. Threw so much more then the other bloke. The commentators were a joke. They disregarded anything that Reese did. I'm sure there was an agenda. Big up the younger fella maybe?

:shame:

It wasn't a daylight robbery. But I am suspicious why they played down everything Gavin did? Brown envelopes going around via McCory's table me thinks - :geek2:

The fight bored me to tears to be honest. Rees had no answer to Crollas high guard and step-back defence other than to lean back on the ropes and beg him to engage. Some of his showboating was just desperation to invite Crolla to fight. Crolla on the other hand picked some nice counter shots now and again but is feather-fisted and 1 dimensional outside fighter who has found his domestic level in an past-it Rees.

What a great wee battler Gavin Rees is. He has a level he should be fighting at ,and that's British and possibly European. Never in a bad fight, brave as they come and a real throw back. If he decides to give up then good luck to him - but I think he has some good fights left in him. As regards the Crolla fight , I thought it was excellent , and was glad I wasn't judging. Crolla is a nice boxer and seems a good lad outside the ring , but to be brutally frank he has no chance against Burns.

Gavin did't ought to retire; he didn't get going well and Crolla is a very good boxer who knows how to stick to a game plan. There's no disgrace in losing to Anthony; every top lightweight in the UK has a few losses as the competition is so even. Rees ought to get on holiday for a week or 2, get back, stay out of the pub and carry on doing what he has been doing. He is fit, strong and a capable boxer with a very good team around him; he can come again and get a title or 2.
