Golovkin was different class, but I thought Jim Watt was going to soil himself, so enamoured was he with GGGs performance from the off.

I can't work out whether this makes a Macklin v barker/Murray fight more or less likely.

Sickening body shot. Just as Macklin started to fight he got caught with one hard shot.

Anyone post a clip up of the stoppage. Seems like macklin got chopped in half with the shot!
I expected macklin to get bludgeoned within 5 but according to reports it was looking pretty even until the G meister opened up

I wasn't that sold on Golovkin but he is excellent, an instinctive and natural hitter with a good eye for the target and a sportsmans like demeanour; a very impressive boxer - the best at middle by a country mile.

I think less likely. Involving Macklin anyway. He got decimated last night.

I can picture Barker v Murray if Barker comes through against Geale.

Just the one? Did you see Macklin's face in the post-fight interview? That must have been a very hard body shot to bust his face up like that.

Sorry Mr Pedantic but I didn't actually say he got hit with one punch only did I? He got hit with one hard body shot that ended the fight. Go and troll somewhere else.

As people have said GGG in complete control from the opening minute. Macklin looked to me very nervous and tense. Buddy Mcgirts advice was to keep going in low and keep firing a double jab. As the American commentators said that's a hard thing to do with the bombs GGG was throwing, even his jabs were looking hurtful, snapping Macklins head back.

Golovkin is so well balanced and seems totally unafraid of anything coming back; Macklin may have been trying to counter but when Golovkin muscled him he was easily Matthews strength. Macklin went in and got beat by a very good champion; there's no disgrace in that and I think Golovkin will do pretty much the same to better boxers than Macklin; I think Golovkin can be champ for a few years to come.

Watching that fight it reminded me of when an up and coming prospect is fighting a journeyman who is just trying to survive and is running round the ring like a headless chicken! That's the effect that Golovkin basically had on Macklin. Scary.

You said one hard shot. He got hit with several, hence his face being busted-up. Were you expecting Macklin to do better and are upset he didn't? Is that why you've indulged in personal abuse toward another poster who disagrees with you? I predicted a quick win for Golovkin so don't feel the need to take my frustrations out on other posters. :shame:

I picked Macklin to win by ko in 6 on the prediction thread; purely based on contraryness and that Golovkin hadn't really beaten a big middleweight; he is the best at middle and didn't ought to feel any need to move up and down the weight as is common now. Being the best at a weight ought to be enough; he is excellent and may get better.

I was surprised at how quickly Macklin unravelled but Glov didn't seem to troubled by Macklins power at all and showed him no respect.

He seems to have full confidence in his chin; he prowls without a care in the world; a bout with Martinez would be very good.

Did anyone think that the way Golovkin had Macklin backed up looked like a journeyman trying to survive vs a prospect? That's not an insult to Macklin, it's just how good Golovkin looked and how good he was at stalking and cutting off the ring.
