This is just about the least reliable source you could ever acertian information from (know offence to the poster,) but I was just wondering around the record queries section where Antoni00 posted:

George Kimball in the Boston Herald reports that Kevin McBride will no longer fight Matt Skelton, instead McBride will fight December 9th in Boston , the opponent is not known yet

British promoter allegedly may have jumped the gun in announcing a Kevin McBride-Matt Skelton fight for London a week earlier. Two weeks ago in London, amid much fanfare, Warren claimed he had McBride under contract to fight the Commonwealth heavyweight champion, but McBride’s people say they never agreed to the bout and that the Clones Colossus will not be fighting in Old Blighty

This doesnt surprise me. Anyone else get the feeling that this was never finalised and thats why they put the Williams / Harrison fight on the same card, as Backup?

Matty was told by Frank Maloney that McBride had changed his mind. Instead Maloney has promised to pay him the same fee to fight
John Dermot. Matty feels insulted that he is being asked to fight on a Danny Williams and Audley supporting card. A London date in January looks likely.

Oh FFS. All we need now is for Audley to sprain his ego or Danny to get the lurgy and it will be the full package, cherry on top and everything.

Had a brief glance at FW TV not really expecting to find anything confirming the cancellation.

And I was right, although there is also absolutely no mention of McBride-Skelton going ahead either, if you know what I mean. It's all about Williams-Harrison. I don't know if it was like this before this possible cancellation, but in my eyes I reckon it's now off.

Expect TBA to be drafted in within the next few days I reckon. I'd be expecting him to take the guise of a rather obscure Brazillian or Argintinian as well, who will be adament he'll stop Skelton within 2 rounds and expects Wlad Klitchko to be his first WBU defence

I feel sorry for big Skelton, the guy has had some bad luck with fights falling through this year. Say what you will about his style and limitations but the guy has bottle and seems willing to take on anyone available.

Kevin McBride's proposed fight with Matt Skelton is off with McBride's camp claiming the fight was never really on anyway. At a London press conference earlier this month promoter allegedly announced that McBride and Skelton would clash in London on December 10th with the WBU heavyweight title on the line.

However Warren admitted last week that negotiations with McBride were proving difficult and now it appears they have broken down completely. McBride who is currently sparring Hasim Rahman ahead of his WBC title clash with Vitali Klitschko is now likely to take a fight in Boston in December.

Within days of announcing McBride - Skelton Warren also confirmed the fight between Danny Williams and Audley Harrison for the same December 10th show. With a quality undercard (including Eamonn Magee - Takaloo) already in place presumably the need to secure the Skelton - McBride fight became less of a priority for Warren with the announcement of Harrison - Williams.

McBride has not fought since his shock win over Mike Tyson in June. A mooted challenge for John Ruiz's WBA title has so far failed to materialise but there is the possibility that the fight could still go ahead next year. First though Ruiz has to defend his title in Germany in December against mandatory challenger Nicolai Valuev.

It seems the McBride camp don't fancy their chances against Skelton too much, and rightfully so. Let's face it, McBride is a very poor Heavyweight and he will never get another opportunity to become a champion if he loses to Skelton. I think Ruiz or any other of the Heavyweights would be very happy to defend against McBride and for that reason it seems as though he could indeed secure an undeserved title shot.

I couldn't understand why McBride would ever accept this, the risk/reward was awful for him. I'm not too upset, though, it was going to be an awful fight. Gives ITV more time to show Magee-Takaloo and the rest of the undercard now as well.

Yeah maybe they can get Julius Francis to stand in? :) Hadn't heard anything about him in a while but just checked his record and he's lost his last 13 on the trot. Suppose he's durable and a good opponent to test up and coming fighters against as he'll usually go the distance.

I think he is the only guy to take Skelton the distance so far isn't he? It would be going over old ground though, they should stick Skelton in with someone like John McDermott or maybe Mark Krence II

Yes, apparently so. They are going to get a local carpenter in this time, just like last time when they brought in a local butcher. Or maybe they will ask for a volunteer from the crowd?

Someone mentioned the possibility of him fighting McDermott -- any ideas on if this is a possibility?
