Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne vs Richard "Inferno" Towers

Post by PaddyGold »

Any thaughts on this one? Seems a great match up with them being previous sparring partners with the Hatton camp. Big Daddy coming off an impressive win against Toney, and Towers sparring the Klitchkos.
My thoughts are Lucas is probably too good for him, but i haven't seen to much of Towers outside youtube. There are rumblings of towers improving a lot since they sparred, but I reckon Lucas is still too strong.

I get the impression Browne has gained experience points with intelligent sparring and match making. The Toney fight was excellent considering how far he's come in a short period of time. Towers on the other hand seems to be treading water, and strikes me as a Dominic Ingle product - is he still Ingle trained?! - that is probably going to end up out of his depth. His chin looks a bit shaky too. Browne in 4.

It should be a great fight. Im predicting a knockout. Just not sure which guy gets it. Both have massive power. Im hoping Big daddy can land first and get the win.

Has Towers defenitly recieved a visa to enter Australia? I thought Aussie were pretty strict on that sort of thing.

I was speaking to Big Daddy yesterday. Apparently will be live on TV (foxtel, not main event)
I can't wait to see this fight, both guys not afraid of big tests. Still think Lucas will KO Towers in
the later rounds

settle down colin.

it would be a handy win, but lets not go nuts.

lucas is a good guy working hard, but towers is far from a huge scalp.

Looks like Towers is out. His Visa was revoked. They are looking for a replacement.

Is it worthwhile trying to find someone half decent in limited time as we and Fox do NOT want another imbroglio like the Alex Leapai / Joe Lloyd one in May at the Convention Centre in Brisbane?

At least in this promotion there is still a good enough undercard to carry the broadcast on Fox.

Ridiculous situation. Should have been sorted weeks ago.

It's not like Towers wants to move there and ponce of the state. He's served his time so what's the problem?

Apparently a lot of countries don't look kindly on ex-cons coming for a visit. Guess they should have held it on neutral ground.

This is not an unusual situation. It has occurred many times before and I would have expected the fighter and the promoter to be fully aware of the possibility of a visa being refused given a criminal record. Surely this issue should have been sorted at the early stages of fight negotiations and not in the last week. Disappointing as I was really looking forward to what was going to be a good contest.

Travis Walker has been mentioned a few times now as a possible last minute replacement.

The schedule seems to think walker is fighting.

I would be very impressed if Browne could beat Walker. Walker dominated Kali (who was overrated but still decent) and had leapai in all sorts of trouble.

Should be a good fight and a great win if Browne can pull it off. If I had to bet I would be on Walker though.

no, walker had lost every round vs kali, until he landed the great shot that started the barrage that ended it.

kali was cruising till that point. and he was grossly unfit too. when he sat on the chair between rounds, his gut protruded like a beer belly, lol.

and he was exhausted after the 1st round too.

i see your point bust, but i dont think he had lost every round. I think the judges had it 4-1, 4-1, 4-1-1.

As for exhaustion, well if you can throw punches like that when you're exhausted, you're going to give anyone trouble.

I think walker was also very good against Leapai and could have won that fight by stopppage himself.

Either way, I think its a big win for Browe if he pulls it off.
