In 1886 a Scottish emigrant to Canada drew over 4 rounds with then World Champ John Sullivan one of only 4 men who ever drew with him. Its a fight that sullivan misses out in his book but is well documented by Nat Fliescher.
Manuel Abrew from Leith fought Len Harvey the reigning Empire and European lightheavy/heavy champ in 1937. He was stopped in the 14th round
Jock Porter fought Bruce Woodcock the reigning British and empire heavy champ in 1945 losing inside the distance.
Freddie Mills beat Dundonian Ken Shaw in an eliminator for the British and Empire heavyweight title in 1948. Mills winning inside the distance.
Chic Calderwood at light heavy is about as good as it gets.
