Queries;
- Capitol boxing location on Haiti?
- Raul Moran / Raul Moreno - same boxer?
- Luis Leondro Gonzales / Luis Gonzales - same boxer?
(in Julio Mederos's record)
- Vova Kid, more career information wanted.

I was going to hook Armenteros and the Vova Kid up, but the '54 RRB has him as the Yova Kid, and we have a three bout record for the Yoba Kid. :-?

Robin!
I found the facts in RRB 1950. One or the other must be an nickname, Vova or Yoba. (add both?). I think Vova Kid was his boxer alias. (Many kids from Cuba, right?)
Anyway, it would be interesting to see the rest that you have in -54 edition.
Thanks! :)

It is just phonetics -- Yoba and Yova are pronounced the same way -- and are sometimes spelled the same way!

Correct! It's Y not V. YOVA KID, if I'm looking closer with a looking glass.
Let's go for it!

Thanks Mike, there seems to be more documentation of the Yoba-Yova than the Vova. The July 19, 1947 bout is listed as Luis Gonzalez, the same on Julio Medero's record. The January 7, 1948 bout is listed as Raul Moran, same guy he fought for the title. The May 7, 1949 bout is listed as another Black Bill. Only had four more bouts to add, record indicated he was inactive, 51-52.
Just found an entry in the New York Times: Joey DeJohn KOed Yoba Kid in Miami.

Robin!
It was a bad print in my book, I read Vova, not, Yova wich is correct.

My queries was;
Raul Moran / Raul Moreno - same boxer?
Luis Leandro Gonzales / Luis Gonzales - same ?

The location for the PTS win over Herman Harris, 1955-03-03 is missing.
Joey DeJohn knocked out Yova in Miami Beach, 1955-01-04, right?

Black Hill is Black Bill (same bad print quality).

Moreno is Moran, no mention of Leandro, just plain ole Luis Gonzalez. Nothing on the Harris bout and the DeJohn bout is good.

My guess is Philadelphia for the Harris bout. There are only two shows that day, in Philly and in California. Harris fought some in Philadelphia.
Let's call this one over?
Thanks a lot Robin!
