Lennox Lewis and David Price

Just watched Ringside and I think Ed Robinson had it down to a tee stating that that if Lennox and Smith were saying the same thing, what was the point in Lewis being there, and if they were saying different things, that will cause confusion

Can't fathom out all the Lewis 'nuthugging' that goes on, the guy was clearly a very good / great fighter, one who seemed to be the thinking type, or certainly one that would have us believe that he was this great thinking fighter, a pugilist specialist as he would call it, but, was / is he this fantastic thinker / analyst?? For me he's not the best communicator, doesn't seem to read fights that well (based on commentating days) was padding Price from an orthodox stance when he (Price) was fighting a southpaw, told Price to stand between rounds when clearly he was shattered & here for me was the real big one, was wearing SUNGLASSES INDOORS AT NIGHT!!! Clearly he has a massive ego, maybe a deservedly big one, that's another argument, but is obviously a huge part of 'Lennox' now & that IMHO is the last thing a fighter needs to be around!!! Price if he is going to continue needs to move to a different trainer, IMO he has not really developed at all, no left hook, average jab for a man of his size and strength, looking for the big right too often & wastes a massive amount of energy with this relentless bouncing rhythm that he has.

Nail has been hit on the head by several posters on here. He needs to go back to the drawing board and be rebuilt by a new team as I'm sure he is pretty much shot mentally after the last two fights. He wastes far too much energy doing nothing and defense is far too leaky beyond British level. With everything that went on last night and with Lewis coming out today and criticizing Maloney for what he said about him post fight it'll be interesting to see what direction (and with who) Price decides to go next.

So a guy grits his teeth and puts in a shift and you decide he's not your cup of tea because he says, in pretty graphic terms, that he's going to have sex with his wife after a period of abstinence? Grow up. Or did you only like it when gentleman Bernard Hopkins said: "I'm going to go home and enjoy my wife." If that post-fight interview turned you off then you probably should duck into another sport because there are boxers who talk about sex, in graphic terms as well. I don't want to really shock you, but people in pubs and across the country also talk about sex. Yous might want to cover those virgin ears.

I was laughing at it, but I didn't think it was a classy thing to say on TV, he's been a classy guy when interviewed previously so I didn't expect it. Funny as fook, but just made me think, 'what a dick!'

I don't know what people think but GENERALLY big guys are not usually aggressive -I know there are exceptions - but I think David Price is just one of those nice big guys ,that when the going got tough couldn't grit his teeth and say to himself ' you're getting it !'
On the other hand , the exception to my generalisation about big guys is Tyson Fury.
Can I say big Fury would destroy Thompson, and even if the disgusting American ( Dead Mouse -what planet do you live on?) landed big on Fury's chin he would have come storming back. To beat Fury, like most gypsies I know, you would have to nail him to the canvas.
Price's camp was obviously a mess, poor wee Frank had little control, and I feel genuinely sorry for both of them.
Finally - go home Lennox- you were no help, and your big headed comments make me cringe.

Thompson was relieved, ecstatic and was making humorous comments about his own wife. At no point was he disrespectful to David Price, Frank Maloney or even Lennox. Better that than the disrepsectful crap that comes out of the mouth of Broner, Fury et al.

Problem with Price is his resistance to shots. Always has been, even in the amateurs. Thats not to say he couldnt have been a very good pro.
But importantly he and his team never, even privately acknowledged that the shot that hurt him in the last fight was a fairly light shot. He was convinced it was the same sort of shot that Rahman and McCall felled Lennox twice which it clearly wasn't.
If you watch Price's first pro fight against the journeyman Dave Ingleby, he gets hit at the end of the round by the journeyman as the bell went. Failry innocuous but as Price walked back to the corner he was in clear distress and that was the first sign he had poor punch resistance. That and the times he got dropped in the amateurs should have meant they focused more on defence and a rapier jab. Then perhaps he could have had more tools to his arsenal before a fight like Thompson arrived.
Just glad it wasn't Fury who exposed Price otherwise he'd be even more insufferable than he already is.

In fact, there are women who should be grateful to TT because I listened to what he said and my first thought was: ‘I knew there was something I’d forgot to do tonight’, and it made me understand why my missus had been dressed in a French Maid’s outfit from, like, 7pm — I initially thought it was because she wanted to give the elephant’s tusks a damn good polishing, it turns out I was half right.

When Thompson made his declaration of intent, it roused me and I shouted: “Fill the bath with jellied eels, get the leather crotchless chaps out and sprinkle me with rhino horn, you’ve pulled.”

It was a shocker, like, because I’d heard from a good source that Thompson’s initial plan was to use the post-fight interview to discuss the use of metadata in cataloguing. I guess he must have got distracted, by his throbbing, over-gorged balls.

He's a disgrace.

For me it was not anything really to do with him not having a chin,in the mess that was rounds 3 to 5 it was his ability to stand up from the punches which probably impresed me the most,but the frightining lack of stamina is something that causes real concern,i thought he would have had all angles covered,fitness,tactics,how to react when hurt etc but no,he was very amateurish in his response to gassing and getting hurt,somebody has to be held accountible for that whether it be Price,Smith(both IMO)

To me the whole "David Price is going over to be trained by Lennox Lewis" deal was just a massive publicity stunt in an attempt to regain the British publics confidence in him...
And I don't think it's too bold to say that - it backfired BIG TIME!!!!!

Are we really expected to believe that David Price was going to come back a much more improved fighter after 10 days with Lennox Lewis? If Price's team expects us to believe that then it's pretty insulting.

There's a reason why great coaches like Freddie Roach work with their fighters every single day of the week!!!
(it's not like the get Sundays off - and they can go on the drink on Tuesdays, know what I mean?)

There's nothing half-hearted about it, he has them in the gym every day, working hard and staying sharp, total conviction, absolute dedication and progress comes through sheer hard work.

Lennox Lewis himself said on TalkSport that the period of time that he had with price wasn't long enough to get to fully know him as a guy and as a fighter - especially to make considerable improvements to Pricey. Lewis even said that he thinks he would need at least 6 months with him to know him.

I think they were just hoping that Lewis could help him pick up a few cheap tricks and that would be enough... When clearly it was not.
