Your Top Ten HWs all time?

Post by Alan Partridge »

1. Lennox Lewis
2. Vitali Klitschko
3. Wladimir Klitschko
4. Muhammad Ali
5. Larry Holmes
6. George Foreman
7. Mike Tyson
8. Rocky Marciano
9. Joe Louis
10. Jack Dempsey

I know some people might think it's strange that I put the Klitschko's in as there're still active but they done enough and they at the end of there careers, only thing I can think is that Wlad could go to number 2 if he finishes his career, with some good wins, however he wont ever get the opportunity to get to number 1 as he just won't have the competition.

No, I'd really rate Wladimir as low as no. 4. Although he beat two fighters in the all-time top 10, he's also lost to a trio that barely makes my top 25.

Having Vitali Klitscho as the greatest HW of all time is simply a joke. Tell me who he beat that puts him there above guys like Louis, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holyfield, Lewis, Holmes etc

What we need is a top ten heavyweight list of the passed thirty years. Not an all time list.

I would have rated Foreman higher, dropped Ruddock and replaced him with one of the other alphabet champions of the time like Coetzee or Dokes. I do also rate Corrie Sanders high as being maybe the most underated talent in the division during that time. And don't forget, the man with the most wins over high quality opposition during that time, David Tua.

Purrity, Sanders and Brewster all scrape into your all time top 25? Wow. You know, right, that heavyweight boxing existed BEFORE the K brothers debut? I don't think Purrity has ever been in the top 25 of active fighters, even!

Reasonable list. But can you really see Muhammad Ali beating a prime Lennox Lewis or todays version of Wladimir?
