Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I hate to piss on anyones's chips but have you considered that maybe Carson Jones wants it at catchweight because he has problems with the weight division limit ?
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Do you really think Jones has the pull to get that in a fight with Kell?Parson Cross wrote:I hate to piss on anyones's chips but have you considered that maybe Carson Jones wants it at catchweight because he has problems with the weight division limit ?

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
When seeing the pair on Ringside, it seemed to be sparring in the England squad that was the bone of contention. Amir was convinced he had "schooled" him. Its all probably irrelevant now.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
So what is your point? If it suits Kell then everyone has a point, there's no way Jones gets it I Brook din want it that way.Parson Cross wrote:Yes - because it suits both boxers !

Thats interesting, and a reason I hadn't considered.Parson Cross wrote:Yes - because it suits both boxers !
Why does it suit him Parson? Is it because he is genuinely struggling at 147 or is it because he didn't want an intensive camp with the injuries he has picked up over the last couple?
Or is it something else?

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I don't know the answer to that mate.
However I do know that the injury he sustained restricted the work he could do for a considerable period and inevitably that takes its toll both on condtioning and on weight.
This fight has no championship consequences, and does not affect his mandatory status and plans are afoot for September.
I have also heard rumours of Jones being tight at the weight.
If everyone's happy at 150 what's the problem ?
There are too many Brook haters who do not consider the facts.
If you substituted the name to say Barker and applied the same facts to the senario it wouldn't even warrent a debate.
To be fair I wasn't over bothered about this fight but now I hope Brook puts on a quailty performance not for plaudits just to silence a few.

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
That's it set in stone.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I'm a huge Brook fan Parsons but be honest, is that because Brook is struggling to get down to 150? Should we be worried about this fight?
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
He had little trouble until the second half of the fight, fighting over ten should make it a little easier for Kell this time round.DMA1987 wrote:I'm a huge Brook fan Parsons but be honest, is that because Brook is struggling to get down to 150? Should we be worried about this fight?

Depends if Jones gets started quicker this time round.SNG wrote:He had little trouble until the second half of the fight, fighting over ten should make it a little easier for Kell this time round.DMA1987 wrote:I'm a huge Brook fan Parsons but be honest, is that because Brook is struggling to get down to 150? Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
152, I think its safe to say Kell is struggling to make the weight I don’t care who's mouth it comes from and that's including a horses. Within a few months I believe Kell will be moving up, it also suggests to me he couldn't cut it to fight Alexander.

He didn't not start, Kell just dominated him, then got tired. Then got his nose broke.
Round 6 onwards wasn't it? Brook is vastly superior, he showed it in the first half of the first fight, but if he comes in in worse shape than he was for that fight.....SNG wrote:He had little trouble until the second half of the fight, fighting over ten should make it a little easier for Kell this time round.DMA1987 wrote:I'm a huge Brook fan Parsons but be honest, is that because Brook is struggling to get down to 150? Zero,
It wasn't Kell's if that's what you're intimating.
I was told it by Jones.
When are people going to wake up and understand that sometimes both fighters need a little leeway with the weight ?

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
DMA,
You do realise that Jones weighed in bang on the middleweight limit 160 for his last fight 9 weeks ago.
Has it occurred to anyone that Jones may be struggling at the weight ?

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I do realise, but you said it is beneficial to both. Kell wouldn't be making concessions purely to the benefit of Jones would he?Parson Cross wrote:DMA,

I guess your opinion on 2 things would be great:
1. Could Kell have made 147 for this fight?
2. Was Kell struggling to make the 150 for this fight?
I know you might not know either for a fact, but your honest opinion would be?

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I think he was, but solely due to the fact he could not train hard and at full intensity until about 5 weeks ago.
Can I put it another way ?
Had there been anything on the line for this fight he'd have made it.
By that I mean that on the basis both fighters needed some slack cutting, why should both kill themselves to make a weight when catchweight suits both ?
Bigger fish to fry in the Autumn.
Subject to getting through this one which I'm sure he will.
I don't know where the 150 came from mate I wasn't aware of that.
Jones told me the agreement was 152.

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I think they mean they can't make Welterweight at the notice that they made this fight on. With 10-12 weeks notice (which is the kind of notice you get for a World title fight) I think 147 is fine for Kell.
