Harrison ordered to face Guzman!
It was decided during the final day's session at the World WBO's annual convention that undefeated Joan Guzman, a former WBO world champ at 122 pounds, is the mandatory challenger to next fight current WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison. Sycuan Ringside Promotions president Glenn Quiroga has also begun discussions with representatives of allegedly, whose company, Sports Network, handles Harrison's ring business. "We were given 30 days in which to conclude good faith negotiations with Harrison's team," said Quiroga. "They want to hold this world title bout in the United Kingdom. We have no problem with that. In fact, Guzman is anxious to return there as he won his first world title belt in Wales. But Guzman must be properly compensated." If the parties fail to reach an agreement, then the matter goes to purse bid. In any case, the fight must happen 120 days from November 6 when Harrison has an optional title defense against Australian Hussein Hussein.

Hussein then Guzman, that is a good lineup for Harrison, he needs tough fights as these Kebede and Estrada type matches don't do him any favours if you ask me.

Estrada vs Harrison is one of the oddest fights I have seen. Estrada was giving Harrison a kicking and then just gased out, then quit.

Yeha i get the feeling Eastrada thought he would give it some for the first four rounds or so and basically ran out of steam. It was an interesting little battle up until that point.

Only favour I see Guzman doing Harrison is curing him of insomnia.

Only way I see Guzman losing is if he gets screwed on the scorecards.

I dunno. I don't fancy anybody to go toe to toe with Harrison. It may be a case of who has the best chin. Should be entertaining either way.

I would fancy a few people to go toe to toe with Harrison at the moment. His power is very overated, in his last few fights he has shown he can he hurt by Brodie and Polo, neither of which are big punchers and his workrate is not what it once was, tired very badly in the Polo fight and if he had stood his ground and traded with Scott late in that fight I believe he wouldn't have needed to worry about getting robbed.

Never been a fan of Harrison's but I still believe he is looking far removed from the fighter who beat Chacon and McCullough. He still has that size advantage, but I don't think boiling down to make weight like he must do is doing him any favours

I think Harrison is ready to go. I agree regards Polo, Harrison was completely out of it, and If Polo had stood on the gas he would almost certainly have stopped Harrison. He probably figured he'd done enough to win, I know I did.

However, Scott did show remarkable heart, he was taking a kicking in there and he refused to crumple even though he was completely exhausted.

Any fighter who stands right in front of Harrison is always going to give him a chance, because Harrison has the physical strength for that type of fight. On occasion his punchpower looks impressive, but more often than not he looks ordinary.

Guzman handspeed is too good for Harrison, it will be a war but I see Harrison taking two-three before getting in with one, and this will soon start to hurt him.

Having said that, I have to say I was dissapointed in Guzman beyond the 5th round on his last UK televisied fight (vs Morales). He seemed to suffer from the Junior Witter syndrome.

So if Harrison can last the early stages, then who knows.

I had thought that Guzman looked an absolute monster coming up, but I haven't been impressed with him since he beat Sanchez. This will show whether he really is that impressive, or if he flattered to decieve a little early on. Scott may not be the slickest, but he's strong and brave and works hard.

Not a fight Maloney will be looking forward to - fraught with danger, as they say. But maybe Guzman is overrated...Frank will be hoping that's the case. Warren used to manage him, so he'll know alot about him.

Scot's most dangerous fight so far - but is Harrison the best Guzman has faced too?

I agree, Guzmans never faced anyone as good as Harrison and his power isnt what it was before he moved up, far too many people are rating Guzman on his style and demolition of somewhat nobodies. Guzman was also very unproffesional in his approach to his last fight which leads me to think he maybe believes in his own hype.

Dong get me wrong, Harrison is far from being the second coming, but if Guzman's plan is to stand in front of scott and brawl then it plays right into Harrisons hands. Styles make fights.
