Has anyone her got a Sky+, whats it like for taping Boxing PPV events.

Can you record it from the Sky+ archive onto VHS and/or DVD. I have heard that there are some copy right protection issues.

Thinking of upgrading but need to know the finer details like this. If there is a copy right protection can you record it direct (as live) from a video as you can do with normal sky digital.

Hope you can help.

I have Sky+ but there is no USB port on the smaller drive version. I think my one is 80GB If you get the larger storage version (120GB or 160GB???) which is substantially more expensive, you will get USB ports which I assume will allow you to transfer files across to a PC where you can then made discs.

I know Sky+ is getting cheaper all the time but in a few months you may find yourself looking to upgrade again to the Sky+ HD box. These older ones will become obsolete soon (if you've got a HD enabled TV - most people will by the end of next year).

As far as I am aware only the Sky box office movies are copy protected, I do not believe there is any copy protection on the boxing PPV events.

Don't record live fights straight from the TV guide. The best thing to do is go into services and select manual recording. This allows you to select the date, channel, and start/end time of the card you are watching.

On the TV guide it often has a card scheduled to finish at 5am, many shows tend to end after this time but your skybox will only record till 5am.
