Farnell and Barnes

David Barnes is now being trained by former champ Anthony Farnell.
Will be interesting to see what Barnes has left after his worrying loss to Joshua Okine. He looked completly out of sorts in that one.
Barnes is supposed to be boxing in December, so maybe the change of trainer and rest will do him some good.
Hopefully he can get back in the mix, i was predicting great things for him after he beat James Hare, but he then hit a dip in form.

Barnes is coming back at light welter, he'll be fighting at 140 rather than 147 and believes he can make the weight easily.

Barnes would have won handily had it not been for the "collapse" IMO, the way he fell apart was alarming. You could not have previously questioned his heart the way he battled back against Jimmy Vincent.

Farnell really is a top man and hopefully he will be a successful trainer.

The gym looks good and with Arnies experience he can get David back on track, he did it himself and hopefully he will do it again.

What is it with fighters leaving Brian Hughes after one setback - why do they just days before the fight speak so positively of Hughes, then leave the minute they suffer a defeat.

Feel so sorry for Hughes, who for me is the best trainer in the UK.

Thats Gomez, Farnell, and now Barnes (probably others aswell).

Wouldn't be surprised if Reid was next, can see Hughes giving him a few home truths about what he has left and then a parting of the ways.

No truth in that at all. Robin Reid regularly helps at Hughes gym, there is nothing wrong with the Hughes and Reid relationship.

Expect Reid to be in a reasonably big fight, he is not retiring yet.

Interseting i wonder who he may go against ???

But i'm fairly sure he's not got much left based on the Lacy performance

Maybe a move up in weight and an easy defence for Woods ???

Arnie's heart is in the right place, but I don't know how successful he will be as a trainer. His boys will be fit, but what technical advice can he give, he was always lacking actual ability himself. I wish the guy all the best, I just hope he doesn't pump all his money into a doomed project.

I was just speculating Pepsi and made up that little scenario. I would like to see Reid retire though, he may become a yard stick for prospects.
