Brook/Jones - Distance?
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
The current theme that Khan is shit and gets beaten by any half decent fighter is a nonsense. In particular the assumption that Brook will destroy him is comical. Brook hasn't even fought someone as good as Malignaggi or Kotelnik. Khan has some serious flaws but he also has some P4P level attributes. He was destroying Garcia till that bingo punch and threw it away against Peterson.
We dont even know if Brook could be arsed making the weight to fight a top opponent never mind being good enough to actually beat one.

not often am i stunned by peoples comments but to say that the fight was rigged or the ref ruined the fight is a extraordinary .... it was a one-sided event from start to finish... there was nothing coming back from Carson and the fight was correctly stopped... actually most of the fight there wasnt much coming back from Carson....Jones was taking punishment for most of the fight ....he hadnt won a single round and had 2 knockdowns against him... they are athletes not gladiators that are finished when carried off the canvas...

Jones has a great chin but they used to say that about Jerry Quarry and Ali. Jones gets hit with a frightening amount of power shots. At some time he must consider his long-term health.BobbyDobbs wrote:He has a great chin and recovers quickly when he is stung.columbo wrote:Just watching the first fight now. Jones did bloody well to stand up to a lot of the shots he took in that fight. He never took a backward step really either which shows he's bloody tough.
I tell him that he is like Jason from Friday the 13th. You can shoot him, blow him up, but as soon as you think hes dead, back he comes to kill you!
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
x2 Carson took some very hard shots flush on; he didn't ride the punches or even seem to see them coming. He seems to be a naturally strong man and is very game; the brain though is like blancmange in a strong body or a weak one. A hiding like he took last night may come back to haunt him; hope the man got paid enough to set some aside so he can think about his time after boxing.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Jones has a great chin but they used to say that about Jerry Quarry and Ali. Not just that but he's been a sparring partner for the likes of Canelo and Golovkin! He's probably taken a lot of gym beatings aswell.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
I didn't know that he'd been a sparring partner for those 2; I hope he'll be ok and the money he's earned in such a hard way will set him up for a better life; there are easier ways to make a living and if he boxes on he needs to stay away from the level of Brook etc.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Well he was a paid sparring partner for Canelo but he used to be trained by Abel Sanchez up in Big bear who also trains Golovkin. Im pretty sure they've sparred together.palooka wrote:I didn't know that he'd been a sparring partner for those 2; I hope he'll be ok and the money he's earned in such a hard way will set him up for a better life; there are easier ways to make a living and if he boxes on he needs to stay away from the level of Brook etc.

You rate Fury shows what you know.mrpedigree wrote:Maidana ?? your kidding meGlobalBox wrote:Thought it was a decent performance to be honest, Jones has a great chin and great survival ability but I did not want to see him hit in the head
anymore to be honest, he had not won a round was given a count twice so there are two 10-8 rounds in there, he had not hurt Brook, why let him take more
No problems with the stoppage for me
Bring on Maidana, that will make for a cracking fight as the Latin comes to fight...Maidana will fcuk Kell
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Why do people want Kell to fail? Seriously some of you are fornicating pathetic.
And to the bullshit rigged talk, Carson's team have said they have no complaints, fornicating more do you want?
Now let's get Kell in with somebody world class, put this debate to bed.

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Yeah, fair play to him for that fight, didn't think he had it in him!
Was good to hear Kell talking about the names he wanted after the fight, shows he is getting a bit of hunger back and shows the fights he wants.

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Yeah it's good to hear Kell saying he wants those guys. I hope it's not Mosley though. Any of the other big names in the division id be happy with.DMA1987 wrote:Yeah, fair play to him for that fight, didn't think he had it in him!

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
OK I used the word rigged which in fairness was the wrong word to use, in my defence I was on my eleventh lager at the time. I'll put it another way, home stoppage and they get me really riled. Jones was working his way back into the fight in the previous couple of rounds, I think he'd have done the distance.ajwesty13 wrote:not often am i stunned by peoples comments but to say that the fight was rigged or the ref ruined the fight is a extraordinary .... it was a one-sided event from start to finish... there was nothing coming back from Carson and the fight was correctly stopped... actually most of the fight there wasnt much coming back from Carson....Jones was taking punishment for most of the fight ....he hadnt won a single round and had 2 knockdowns against him... they are athletes not gladiators that are finished when carried off the canvas...

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
To be fair, Kell would get more criticism for not giving Jones a rematch given how close the first fight was. Like has already been said, Carson Jones has been put to bed now, onwards and upwards.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
i thought the stoppage was a good call. jones was taking way too much and not giving enough back. not like he was going to pull a ko out of the bag and he was more likely to just get more and more hurt.mrbassie wrote:OK I used the word rigged which in fairness was the wrong word to use, in my defence I was on my eleventh lager at the time. i read on another forum someone said 'if jones was your son would you have wanted it to carry on' got to remember these guys have 30-40 years of life to live after they retire. not good for them taking shots like that too often.

I'm a prick because I don't like referee's stopping fights prematurely because of their own vested interests?Parson Cross wrote:Still a prick for saying what you did.

No need to be sorry, the prebubescent name calling of an irrelevance on the internet really doesn't bother me.
Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
Carson may have managed the distance but wasn't going to win, had taken a lot of heavy punches and was likely to take more. I lost a tenner bet when Kell won but was happy to see Jones out of the bout; he seems a decent sort and I'd not like to see him (anyone) take a severe pounding. The ref did his job, Brook did his and Jones did his best.mrbassie wrote:I'm a prick because I don't like referee's stopping fights prematurely because of their own vested interests?Parson Cross wrote:Still a prick for saying what you did.

Re: Brook/Jones - Distance?
What a load of rubbish. What vested interest did that referee have in ending Brook/Jones 2 ??!! It was a fair stoppage. The referee did his job - he is there to protect the fighters and Jones was losing, was a mile behind, and Brook was hammering him at that point. Good stoppagemrbassie wrote:I'm a prick because I don't like referee's stopping fights prematurely because of their own vested interests?Parson Cross wrote:Still a prick for saying what you did.
