how would frank Bruno do to day ......would he win a belt

Post by stevedoc »

Bruno fought at the time of tyson then lennox lewis so outside of the klischkos i don't see anyone else starting as favourite over big frank .
so how would frank do against fury or haye

i think bruno would KO fury and it's a toss up with haye ,maybe haye would out last frank who never had great stamina . :bag: :bag:

His aggression and power would scare the piss out of Wlad. I think he'd walk through him the same way Sanders did.

Unless I've missed something I don't see an equal of Bruno on Vitali's victim list.

The current top 10 is an abomination, Bruno at his best is a level above in my humble opinion.

I think Bruno would be more scared of Wlad to be honest.

I don't want to be part of the 'Bruno was crap' brigade... because he wasn't. He just had his limitations at the highest level, and would expect a peak Vitali or Wlad to stop him, rather than the other way round.

Tyso Fury would take him to the cleaners and wash his mush.

Hard puncher was old Frank, but he couldnae take a shot. He did not neccessarily go down, but his defences went to bits when clouted and he took some horrific beatings on the ropes.

Also a dirty fighter. Always throwing rabbit punches and holding on. I would take him to beat Price and Chisora but haye would have stopped him and Fury would beat him into next week.

Other than the Klits, Bruno would be a major force in todays heavuweight scene.

He would have had little trouble with Fury IMO.

Bruno would slap Tyson round the ring like a rag doll, Tyson Fury that is, not Mike Tyson...

re Wlad: Klitschko is a highly intelligent fella, he was a lot younger when Sanders took him out. I don't think he'd let Bruno scare him into his shell, no way. He would also be well aware he had enough clout to get Bruno in trouble... It would be a cagey affair and the first to land big would win. I'd probably go Bruno though if I had to choose.

I could certainly see Bruno giving Wlad a hard time - he had such a good jab it was giving Lewis nightmares for 6 rounds, and Wlad doesn't have Lewis' reach. Additionally, Bruno landing one of his bombs on Wlad would be seriously dangerous for the Ukrainian given Bruno's sheer power.

Vitali would probably be too mobile, a little too tall, and has the chin to take Bruno's right hand, so I'd pick him on points.

Of the current crop, Haye would give Bruno the most problems, but i'm confident he would beat Price, Fury, Tony Thompson, Chris Arreola, etc etc. Not sure about Vitali and Wlad but he wouldn't be far away. I think their style could be handled by Frank.

The thing about Bruno vs Wlad is we know Frank was capable of absorbing punishment before he finally got stopped, and all his losses were to hard, hard men. He'd get a chance to land one on Wlad and Wlad would not be able to take it. I could see either being hurt but Frank takes a shot better so if he is clipped himself he's favoured to come back and land something big before Wlad finishes him.

On the other hand I think Vitali would have stopped Frank late.

Bruno would be a top heavyweight in the world if he was actively fighting in today's division. I couldn't see any one other than maybe Haye & Klitchsko's giving him any trouble, he was tough has old boots & could wack, Bruno mixed at top level at a time that was probably the best there's been for Heavyweights, his only downside was he never knew how to spoil, hold or break a fight up when he got hurt, other than that he was a good solid operator IMO.

Bruno would beat Fury, Haye and this old version of Vitalil. Povetkin would probably UD him and Wlad would TKO him.

Bruno always gets underrated and dismissed too soon in discussions like this. We all look at Frank and think of him being the lovable buffoon who usually ended the big fights slumped against the ropes and kept on his feet by the referee but people forget he gave genuine top level heavyweights such as Bonecrusher Smith, Tim Witherspoon and Lennox Lewis good fights and I see people saying Tyson Fury would smash him to bits? :D

The only time I think he was actually counted out was against Smith.

He'd be up there but I don't know whether he'd have coped with Haye or Povetkin, the two brothers would have been all round too much for him though he would have given it his level best.

So hard to say. Id give him a chance against anyone other than vitali. Vitali's jaw is iron.
