E-Bay for boxing books

I looked on e-bay recently for boxing titles, just out of interest.

There were 3 books that looked Ok and I put in a bid, having never did this before I was quite happy when it looked as if I may get the books at a good price.

For about two days my bid was the highest and I thought they must be mine, then my kids told me to keep an eye on it the last 5mins or so.

Sure enough the price rocketed, I knew how much these books were worth anyway and knew the amount I`d go to, but what surprised me was the crazy price they eventually went for.

The seller was a shop, and I must say it obviously makes sense for the book shop to sell on e-bay...the prices were amazingly over priced.

"The Straight Left and How to Cultivate it, by Jim Driscoll" this book went for £73 p+p......it is only worth around £40, in fact abebooks has one for £29 in 1st edition.

I've had some bargains at e-bay, but always check on adebooks or bookfinder.com for guide prices, sometimes you get lucky on e-bay.

got a similar book by Jim Driscoll called "Ringcraft" paid 10 pounds for it, think that was pretty good price

Don't bother bidding for items with lots of time left to run on an item, it just drives the price up and u get in a bidding war. I put the item i'm interested in in my watch list and hijack the item with 1 or 2 mins remaining.

One good thing to do is check the worldwide e-bays for cheap books, even with the increased postage you can get some good bargains, especially with the pound being strong.
