Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Just shows you the true morales of the sport . I was at hull last night and was told near ringside oliver had given Jamie the way too beat Derry. Considering Derry and oliver where together for many fights this just doesn't seem right. One day not so long ago they would if been hugging in respect of each other and now ....
What are your thoughts ?

Its business.
Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Professional boxing is a business so just like any tradesman working for a firm then going out on their own they would use what they learned to better their personal progress, not rare in sport think of football a player / manager leaves one team then at some point tries to beat his old side/team mates.
It does leave a bitter taste in your mouth if you view it from a loyalty perspective so I am with you on that however boxing is a business.

That is just the nature of the sport, well Oliver never told Jamie to tell Tommy to keep his right hand up when he's so easily hit by left hooks did he?
I told everyone it was a case of who had the better chin and that was the case

Ryan Rhodes v Sergei Rabchenko ? At least Oliver wasn't actually in the corner. Happens all the time but as people say boxing is a business no longer a sport.

Ricky never trained Ryan. Be a bit different if Coldwell was giving Rabchenko advice.Parson Cross wrote:Ryan Rhodes v Sergei Rabchenko ? At least Oliver wasn't actually in the corner. Happens all the time but as people say boxing is a business no longer a sport.

He did it with mike Gomez vrs khan too someone just told me on the phone , they said he trained mike without khan knowing after khan left him like Derry did , sounds bitter too me . But like you all say its business , not that I agree
Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Not sure it was just a case of who had the better chin. I think Mathews hit harder than Coyle so he had an advantage in that sense.billy nelson wrote:That is just the nature of the sport, well Oliver never told Jamie to tell Tommy to keep his right hand up when he's so easily hit by left hooks did he?

Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Well my point is Derry took Tommy's best shots flush on the chin, Tommy couldnt take Derry's, however it was a great fight but the ref made the right decision to stop the fight Tommy could have been badly hurt if hed been hit solidly again and he plenty young enough to bounce back againcolumbo wrote:Not sure it was just a case of who had the better chin. Billy ....Do not think you are being very fair on Tommy chin here , it had done OK for 9 rounds. It was more the fact he was comfortable in the fight and switched off , he got caught when relaxed and with his hands down , schoolboy error but masive credit has to go with Derry for having the resolve to pull that one out.......SW
PS - On the main subject I can say I do not know of Tommy going down to Olivers with Jamie and would suspect this is just gossip trying to cause a bit of conflict when there is no need.

Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Hi everyone, just been told about this by Steve wood so just wanted to clarify.
Oliver never gave me ANY advice for the fight at any point. I never asked him, it was a tough enough job to do anyway because of my friendship with Derry without getting other people who are friends involved.
I never once asked him for advice, went there sparring, not one thing. Everything we did for this fight me, Nige Travis and Tommy did alone.
Oliver is a great trainer and would be the 1st person I would ask for advice, but for this fight it was too close to home and I wouldn't have done that. It's not right.
Hope this clears it up.

Nice of you to come on to clear that up actually, you didn't have too, be interesting to hear who 1 nut's source was, but then again...turns out its all bollocks anywayMooresy wrote:Hi everyone, just been told about this by Steve wood so just wanted to clarify.

Steve I have also praised him for the first 9 rounds,he was clearly winning the fight and got involed when there was no need whatsoever to do so.STEVE WOOD wrote:Billy ....Do not think you are being very fair on Tommy chin here , it had done OK for 9 rounds. excellent fight which your man should have won lets hope he comes back stronger.
Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Oliver speaks very highly of Derry and I know he genuinely cares about the guy
well done to Jamie and Nige Tommy fought a great fight and also Derry on what an amazing shot!! Luckily for Tommy was a very damaging stoppage and I'm sure he will come back a better fighter!!

Re: Oliver Harrison helping Jamie Moore for last night
Because "Team Khan" treated Oliver wonderfully in the way they moved on from Olivers. And its unthinkable that a Manchester fighter signed to VIP, would go to a Manchester gym which was the hub for VIP boxers, most of which around the light Welter limit, most of which were pressure fighters whod sparred for years with Khan for some training... Oliver is an absolute gent in and out of the gym. A rarity in boxing nowadays.1 nut wrote:He did it with mike Gomez vrs khan too someone just told me on the phone , they said he trained mike without khan knowing after khan left him like Derry did , sounds bitter too me .
