Gallaghers Gym - The Revival
Re: Gallaghers Gym - The Revival
Great work by GP his videos have gotta to be best on net
Re: Gallaghers Gym - The Revival
the great thing about this revival, is that we're seeing smith and crolla do different things than expected. last I saw of smith, there was always a lot of holding/mauling, not so much fluidity. now he's putting the shots together, driving the opponent back and being more hurtful. way easier on the eye, and much more effective results.
and crolla, as you can see in the video, using different movement, not only cutting the ring down, but also moving in and out to frustrate the opponent; and also having an excellent defense - in rd 11 when rees "traps" him in the corner twice, crolla pivots away 1st time, and turns rees the 2nd time. then opens up on rees. that's one of the smarter & more technical strategies of a fighter against gavin rees. normally rees is the guy frustrating ppl. but if you open rees up, make him lunge, trick him onto a jab smack in the face, or an arcing right hand, it messes him up, spoils his rhythm and concentration. I also liked crolla, when in his groove, digging an extremely short left hook to the body, knocking rees back; and the next attack will be a hook or cross to the head. you have to you those shots responsibly vs rees. if he sees them coming he'll get you. but if you've messed him up, he doesn't know where the shots are coming from next. it really was a superb performance from crolla, the team clearly did their homework...

Got to see the Million Dolar Crolla fight v Gavin Rees last night on Australian Fox Sports. Cracking fight. Well matched and Rees looked terrific at times but overall Crolla was just a little bit more polished.
Appreciate the comments about the 11th round - I watched with interest the 'swing around' with Crolla getting Rees back on the ropes.
The trainer was very happy when they announced the decision. Good luck to Crolla & the Gallagher crew - might have got himself in the mix for a world title shot.
