I wouldnt say he's poor opposition it's just that we *boxing fans* want to see him in with the best guys ie your Vasquez's, Abrils, Gamboa, etc.magnus wrote:So we can be sure that Vasquez, Abril, Gamboa etc would fight Burns?ThereByTheGrace wrote:I have another:
Are you taking the p!ss trying to charge fans for a Q and A when you continue to avoid the best fighters in the division?
Interestingly, Beltran is rated in the top ten by Boxing Monthly, Boxrec and The Ring, yet a lot on here seem to think he's poor opposition.

I was told he never had any yet he displayed excellent skill on the night, although I beleive if they fought again we'd get the same resultcolumbo wrote:Completely off topic... You're right its not comparable, and sounds a good show. Scotland's greatest ever boxer will be there (decide yourself who it is)! I just thought you were a bit harsh on the lads promoting the other, they are trying.billy nelson wrote:Compare the 5 Star Glasgow Hilton and The Cleland Miners Club? Tickets have went excellently and Im personally really looking forward to it.
I beleive Ken Buchanan and Ricky Hatton will be there as well plus others

Yeah he must be a natural. For someone with such limited experience his counter punching was top notch!

I do too mate, but it's not going to be quite as simple as saying "Ricky doesn't fancy it". It's takes two (plus their managers, trainers, promoters, ABC organisation, tv backing etc) to make a fight.columbo wrote:I wouldnt say he's poor opposition it's just that we *boxing fans* want to see him in with the best guys ie your Vasquez's, Abrils, Gamboa, etc.magnus wrote:So we can be sure that Vasquez, Abril, Gamboa etc would fight Burns?ThereByTheGrace wrote:I have another:

I would agree that Ricky has fought the better opposition upto now. I just wish we could see them in the ring together

Its a shame for Gonzalez really,i thought he boxed outstanding on the night but you cant train for a heart and i think Burns will have ruined him forever as far as boxing at the top levels concerned, and he,ll be forever ridiculed as a quitter, the worst slur for any boxer im sure, but yeah very skillful and accurate and lightning fast
Re: QaA evening with Ricky Burns
The guy has clearly got a lot of ability but yeah he seemed to fold mentally when the going got tough! He also needs to work on his conditioning going on that performance because he gassed badly! Ricky who seemed to throw a lot more punches and also got hit with some big shots seemed to have far better cardio even with those things working against him.handsofstone wrote:Its a shame for Gonzalez really,i thought he boxed outstanding on the night but you cant train for a heart and i think Burns will have ruined him forever as far as boxing at the top levels concerned, and he,ll be forever ridiculed as a quitter, the worst slur for any boxer im sure, but yeah very skillful and accurate and lightning fast

Ouch.
Re: QaA evening with Ricky Burns
what is difference between the price of the tickets, what do you get ? I fancy this but cant see anything on rickys facebook or his twitter about it ...
I cant see Ricky Hatton being there as his dinner shows alone sometimes double the price of this ... but i could be wrong .
Good luck with it ...

Ricky Hatton has told me he'd be coming to the night as he's loads of friends in Scotland and it should be a great night, the price diffrence is purely based on how far away you are from the main table, this is based on feedback from previous showsAlba wrote:what is difference between the price of the tickets, what do you get ? They were in, but on their own terms only.

Which included a highest ever purse for burns (not tax free tho!!) and HBO main event slot against the universally regarded no1 135lb fighter who they are grooming to be the next mayweather, if he won it would have catapulted him to superstar status in the states. However I am sure beating beltran will give him the same recognition

I didn't mention Broner did I? We were talking about the current top lightweights, he's left the division. I'm not denying that Burns or his team turned down the Broner fight (for whatever reason).

Sorry have you seen the guys record? Its a joke for world title challenger. The fact he turned out to be a bit handy is neither here nor there. He is a novice. Dan Rafael agrees.desperados wrote:Trojans44 wrote:I've got a question:

I recognise this is a bit a harsh. But those are my views.
By 'a Puerto Rican novice' did you mean 'an unbeaten, 22&0 switch hitter'? By 'get completely dominated' did you mean 'stop'? By 'this is a bit harsh' did you mean 'i'm an idiot' ?
And yes he was completely dominated. Utterly dominated. He won the lottery that this was guy was in the 2% of fighters who would quit in that position.
Lastly, Burns is the living definition of a ducker. He refused multiple opportunities to fight on the biggest stage and prove he's the best. Imagine Gonzalez didn't quit - how would that decision be looking now?

Manager, promoter and trainer know to stay and Glasgow and protect that belt at all costs, because when it's lost- it ain't ever coming back.
