Going on that performance you have to favour Saunders over Ryder!
Re: Saturrday 20th Wembley RBR thread (Chisora, Saunders etc)
was one of the scorecards read out as 110-109?! I swear that's what the MC said on the last scorecard he read out.

Good post. I don't think anyone appreciates how hard these amatuer stars are to beat.jameswilson wrote:Saunders workrate and chin (at this kind of level) is gonna make him quite tough to beat as his offensive technique is pretty good. It's gonna take a slick operator with a high workrate to outbox him and a big puncher to stop him I reckon. Definitely quite a large step above domestic level.

If Scott wants to fight on, he starts to get up at six, seven or eight. Not nine.

Sorry..do we not have a "10" count? The referee should have gone "10-out" not "9..out" we are going to where Germany once was.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:If Scott wants to fight on, he starts to get up at six, seven or eight. Not nine.

Apparently Malik was aiming to get up at a 100 milliseconds shy of 10 seconds to look cool but fluffed his lines

Did the referee count to 10?Final round wrote:Apparently Malik was aiming to get up at a 100 milliseconds shy of 10 seconds to look cool but fluffed his lines
If not the referee fluffed his lines, and needs to re-read his script as he missed a word before he waved.

To be fair in Germany if the home fighter is down he's allowed ages to get up once the ref says 9. If you watch Luan Krasniqui v Lamon Brewster when Krasniqui hits the deck first time the ref reaches the 9 count and then just stands and watches as Krasniqui takes about 3 seconds to stumble to his feet before he wipes his gloves down and waves the fight on. Unfortunately this didn't do Kras many favours as he got brutally KOd a few rounds later.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Sorry..do we not have a "10" count? Even if it wasn't a KO, he was right to wave it off, why would a fighter in good condition rise at 9.5 at the earliest? Surely if he was sure of himself, his legs and his condition he would have been up before that.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Did the referee count to 10?Final round wrote:Apparently Malik was aiming to get up at a 100 milliseconds shy of 10 seconds to look cool but fluffed his lines

Why would he rush to his feet? If he was sure of himself he'd raise as close to 10 as possible. Why rush?expe wrote:Even if it wasn't a KO, he was right to wave it off, why would a fighter in good condition rise at 9.5 at the earliest? This is an AMERICAN who knows about CLOCK management from NBA and NFL. You do not rush things in US sports, the only condition is that you do things WITHIN the time parameters set by the rules. Could be 9.9 seconds as long as he beats the 10 that's all that matter.
Re: Saturrday 20th Wembley RBR thread (Chisora, Saunders etc)
I didn't like that stoppage at all. Scott was up on 9. If Edwards wanted to deem Scott in no state to continue then he can assess his state after the count. But the actual decision seemed to be a poor combination of an invalid KO and an unwarranted (or at least unassessed) TKO.
The whole point of a 10 count is that the downed fighter has a right to use the whole 10 seconds.

The ref should have let it continue BUT Scott should of been up well before 9. He was clearly not that hurt
Would like to see a rematch but cant see it happening

Re: Saturrday 20th Wembley RBR thread (Chisora, Saunders etc)
It was a poor stoppage imo, the referee should have counted to TEN and waved his arms, that second difference can be massive. 9 with a wave of the arms straight after was wrong. Scott was up before a ten count had been tolled and so was unlucky not to have been allowed to continue. However he really only had himself or his corner to blame for leaving it so late in the count to rise,.....and it was probably academic anyway as Chisora had started to get to him and obviously had the power to hurt him. Scott was marginally ahead at the time of the stoppage but Chisora's pressure was paying dividends.
It was a solid and very professional job by Delboy and one which his career badly needed. A loss here would have seen him relegated right back to domestic level and the resulting fall in his motivation levels would have basically finished his career off I suspect. But with this win, he moves back into title contention and hopefully he'll have noted how his increased fitness levels made a big difference here and how they could do in the future.
Chisora isn't everybodys cup of tea, but I like him. He's an individual, he will fight anyone and he can fight. I know he got bashed for his behaviour in Germany, but I personally thought the way he dealt with the Klitschko's double team attempts at intimidation was ace. Vitali gets in his face and got a slap for his troubles, Wlad tries staring him down and gets sprayed! I enjoyed that because the Klitschko's are not the gents they try to portray themselves as. They're underhand as hell in how they treat visiting opposition.
To be honest I can't really see Wlad wanting to give Chisora an opportunity, but rightly or wrongly Wlad/Delboy would be seen as a nice little grudge match and its a much better fight than some of Wlads recent 'contests'
Either way the win over Scott should hopefully open a few doors for Del after being painted as the black sheep of the heavyweight division.
And finally I'd not be adverse to seeing Scott given further opportunities as he showed good sportsmanship after the fight to go along with a nice skillset in the ring. What about bringing him back to face Price? Malik's lack of power should reassure Prices's fans and David would certainly have the power to whack out a now once beaten but respected contender.

Re: Saturrday 20th Wembley RBR thread (Chisora, Saunders etc)
It was a good performance from Chisora despite the controversy. If he developed a good straight right to go with his looping one, he'd be able to cause much more damage consistently when getting up close to fighters. He showed good defence for the most part against Scott while coming forward and cut the ring off well.
