I don't think this will happen. It's overly aggressive matchmaking and extremely rare in boxing. Hughie Fury needs to be brought along steadily, imo. Trying to catapult him to the top in a couple of years is too ambitious. He's not an amateur standout.

you dont need a lot of experiance to beat Harrison all you need is 2 hands laced with red gloves. Its a perfect opponent for Hughie. We all know Harrison would freeze like a rabbit in headlights.

Audley looks a million dollars when he "knows" that he can beat his opponent - see Prizefighters.

However, when he is up against somebody who fancies the job he completely falls apart.

I reckon that Hughie would fancy the job and would actually beat Audley now.

Of course Hughie would beat Audley, but what would Audley get if he beat him same reason Thompson won't fight high risk low reward (rankings wise)

My post, and this topic, is about Tony Thompson, not Audley Harrison.

For what it's worth, I don't think Audley Harrison would be a problem. Easy win for H. Fury, imo. He just needs to intimidate Audley.

Easy night for Hughie, if this is the fight that comes off, its funny how Harrison has declared himself available.

He did stand out, last year Hughie Fury became the only ever British super-heavy to win a world youth championships gold medal.

When I say "amateur Standout" I mean someone in the mould of Guillermo Rigondeaxu, Aleksei Tishchenko, etc. -- someone who has won several medals at the top level.

I think you overestimate fury, and probably underestimate audley.

He's been in stinkers and looked shocking, but he is still a decent boxer and a big man. When his head is right and he's not apprehensive, he is class. Or at least was maybe.

Fury is fighting 4 rounders. If he took on Harrison over 8 or 10 in the very near future then I can see audley outpointing.

From what I have seen of fury he looks soft at his weight and yet to grow into a full man. Its one thing clubbing morbidly obese east european, its quite another fighting a "big name" opponent when so callow.

I do accept however fury will likely develop into a very decent boxer sooner rather than later. I just think audley in 3 months time is too much too soon.

And as I've said there is no way he can feasibly leap from 4 or 6 rounders straight to a 10 or 12 rounder against a top ten in the world opponent in Thomson. Just hype and building his name I am sure
