I didn't realise when we have a conversation that as soon as a new post is posted you ignore everything else I ever said. My whole point from the begging was that at the top level Froch clearly doesn't have massive power. I can't really be arsed carrying on this conversation it clearly isn't going anywhere, my point was obvious, and true.

Me neither mate.

Perhaps they were at the last Groves amateur fight where Travis Dickinson stopped him in the first round. Or were in the gym when Froch or Callum dropped him. Or friends of Kenny Anderson who floored him - or even the little shake-ups by Conteras or Paul Smith were enough to give them that idea.
Thought that was as a junior? He beat DeGale for a senior ABA title; there are plenty of boxers who have matured and their punch resistance has improved; Froch does not hit as hard as Groves and his chin will be tested; who's done that to Smith before?

I accept the part about top level power. However, it clearly wasn't obvious otherwise I wouldn't have missed it. Referring to generic "people" was clearly inaccurate, but hey, as you say, back to the fight itself....

I didn't refer to general people, I stated in a earlier post that I was talking about top level fighters.

People is a generic term so by its very definition I'm afraid you did. Anyway, accept we're both in danger of being pedants and it's not that important in the scheme of things :TU:
More importantly I actually agree with you about Froch's power at the top level but where he's really impressed me is the way he's adapted his style accordingly. The Froch who swarmed all over Bute is very different to the Froch who faced Taylor and who did look for the big single shots too frequently and stood off and got outworked as a result. You can also see the change with the recent Kessler fight - there was no customary slow start from Froch and he was straight into his stride.
It's this, coupled with his under-rated boxing skills (let's not forget he achieved far more as an amateur than Groves did), that makes me really find it difficult to make any credible case for GG, even though I'm a fan of him as well. It's just 18 months too early for him IMO.

There is no bait, and I have learned to understand and over the years your tendency to either rate or not rate people purely depending on their relationship with Carl! I have heard you argue the case, very well, for promoters, boxers and tv stations solely dependant on Carl. If someone's in the frame to fight him, or has criticised him, you can be sure you will find a clip on YouTube of them getting dropped somewhere to discredit them! You should be a spin doctor...

It doesn't really matter if Carl is or isn't a genuine KO puncher here, because we all know he certainly hits hard enough to put George is big trouble if he lands clean.

Put him down in sparring, so Carl will be very confident - he probably sees this a an easy pay day, but that seems to be a common theme with Groves fights: DeGale and Smith thought they'd walk through him too.

But he might get a shock when Groves lands himself, because someone who shatters a tough man like Smith, who'd never been off his feet, with one shot, has very likely got the real deal when it comes to a KO punch.

I'm not saying Groves will knock out old iron chin, but he will certainly get his attention when he lands.

I think even at this top level groves hits very very hard and I've made the mistake before of writing him off before so I say this with caution but I just don't think groves has he chin or fortitude to stave off Carl for 12 rounds.

I think groves is mustard though so who knows.

It's a very good fight

Have I lied about all the times he was knocked out, floored or wobbled ?

Do you want me to ham up his chances? Because if I did do, you will then say I'm trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear !

Groves has earned his shot, he's a ballsy fighter and there is a lot to like about the man.

But my reason for picking Froch has zero to do with affinity, it's about who I think will come a cropper in an exchange / shoot-out.

If he beats Carl , then he deserves massive props. I just can't see it, like the lion's share of this thread (unfortunately for Groves fans).

We all have to pick a winner, and its over to George to shove the majority's opinion up their arses.

Who are you picking and why Mickey ?

Groves looks nervous, Carl looks 100% confident - I think the sparring, and rumoured knock down, have put George at a massive disadvantage when it comes to the pre fight mind games.

You can tell Carl is dying to say he's already had Groves over, and will easily finish the job, but he can't - he doesn't want to hurt the box office appeal of the fight. It's got to remain unsaid, until the last moment maybe.

I don't think he respects Groves at all, but the Hammersmith man can change that with one big left hook early in the fight. Because he has to get Carl's respect as early as possible.

If it's not in London, I'll definitely be paying for the PPV.

Methinks every Froch fight will now be PPV after the Kessler victory. Unless he loses to Saint GG, of course.

Froch, I think he is too good basically. I picked DeGale too and thought he won it. I wasn't having a go or speaking about this fight in particular, as I said, I even understand why you discredit anyone who pisses Carl off. I once said Clinton Woods had just as good a chin and was hit with a clip of Klemetson flooring him! Also been treated to Bute-GGG, Bute-Andrade and Ward-Boone courtesy of them signing to fight Froch!

Groves has a very good Jab and movement - he can win this.
Froch is not as good as some think he is.

Ole Klemetson could knock a brick out of a wall, what a puncher, remember him v Crawford Ashley.

The smart money goes with Froch, late stoppage after a close fight, but, I have a sneaky feeling Groves will outsmart Froch & land that "howitzer" of a right hand often enough to make Froch think twice about charging forward, this space will allow Groves, boxing a smart smart fight to take it on points!!

Cash? Plus Booth is in camp anyway so why not kill two birds with one stone. Then they can all have a relaxing, prosperous, winter... Groves is in a pretty much no lose situation anyway.
