I get mad when people thinks its ok to showboat to a living legend and a guy who will in peoples hearts go down as the greatest of all time and who at the time was showing signs of parkinson's.
Showing signs of Parkinson's? That's 20/20 hindsight at it's best. Do you seriously think Holmes knew that Ali was going to develop Parkinson's? Did anyone at all comment on these so called early signs before the fight, 4 years before he was actually diagnosed?
Given the way Ali behaved towards Frazier, Patterson and others in the past I'm not too torn up about Holmes taunting him.

While no one mentioned Parkinson's, it was obvious that Ali's speech was seriously slurred during the lead-up to the Holmes' fight. So some form of neurological damage was already evident.
At his prefight checkout at the esteemed Mayo Clinic, Ali admitted his speech was slurred but argued that it only occured when he was fatigued. Clinic doctors also reported that in facile tests, Ali exhibited some coordination problems that were unusual for a world-class athlete.
Despite what was in the report, the Nevada State Athletic Commission somehow okayed the fight.

Sure, this is all true and it is in fact true for a considerable number of fighters. Guys with slurred speech fight all the time and although you could argue that many of them should not have been licensed you can't put any kind of responsibility on their opponents to go easy on them or treat them with some extra measure of respect.
Hhaere----
I wasn't commenting on whether Holmes should have gone easy on Ali or cut out the showboating. It was a licensed fight and Holmes could do what he pleased.
I was merely suggesting that while Parkinsons had yet to be diagnosed, Ali was already exhibiting signs of some neurological disorder and it was undoubtedly known within the boxing grapevine. So it wasn't quite "20-20 hindsight" at the time. Everyone knew Ali had a problem. Only the particulars were a mystery.
kostya tszyu vs ricky hatton. that final round where kt didn't leave the stool. where i was waiting for that one clean shot the entire fight, Only to realise KT went for that one fight too many
