Deagostini's dvds.... what do you think of Tyson dvd???

Post by silkov »

I just got the second dvd in Deagostini's collection and have to say I'm very disapointed. The mentioned 'extras' are very brief pre and post fight interveiws.... and the fights go straght into the action with hardly any buildup... I've basically ended up with only about 10 mins of footage that I didn't already have. Theres not much here really at all... views anyone?... :x :box: :(

I don't like the sound of that mate!. I buy things from Amazon and they never take the money before you recieve the goods. Slightly different situation perhaps but I never like to pay for something before I get it.
Its over two weeks since the first issue came out, why haven't you got it yet?. Make sure you get the supposed freebies too!... :x :x :x
I was thinking about placing an order online before getting the recent issue but I won't be now.

I have the complete set on VHS so financially can't really justify getting them all again on DVD.

However once I've paid for my new bathroom suite witch is costing me £££££££'s I intend to get a DVD recorder (with hard drive) I then may make backup copies on DVD, as I guess video recorders/players are not going to be around forever.

It's just a rehash of the old Marshall Cavendish Video series from 1996.

I also find the choice of fights peculiar form some fighters. With Tyson, I would have thought that they would have included some of his later fights in 1996, before Evander thrashed him, just as a reference to see how he'd changed.

The upcoming Frazier one is also bizarre, as it features the Thrilla in Manila! :o He LOST that fight! They should have featured fights on of him in his peak in 1968 -1971!

Larry Holmes too, features his defeat to Tyson! How strange!

I agree, but all these fights are own by Big Fights Inc, If I recall right, so I suppose it's all down to who owns the rights to certain fight films.

What annoys me is that they go on about the 'extras' yet the pre and post fight stuff is extremely breif and there is no weigh in footage like I expected perhaps. Also this dvd is very short... barely an hour long I should think and you can fit much more onto a dvd.
A big let down after the first dvd which was pretty good value.

I think i am going to cancel anyway, i just thought to myself why the heck am i buying this set? I probably own the fights already and they probably aren't even in full and the booklets won't tell me anything i don't already know about the fights/fighters so why the hell am i buying them for :o 8)

It was 75 video's. I think someone here e-mailed this DVD company and they have either said 72 or 75.

Kilburn,

Are you just stating what was on the vids, or is this what is going to be on the DVD's. If yes, then it is no different to the vids if memory serves me correctly.

This is just a list of the videos in order, are the DVD's going to be that much different?

Personally I don't think it's worth subscribing to, you'd be sure to end up with a lot of fights that you wouldn't be bothered about watching.

I'd really like to see Dempsey v Firpo some time though.

I just want to know if there are going to be any different DVD's. Surely you cannot have a collection now without the likes of Roy Jones, Lennox Lewis etc.

Yeah that's a bit crap if they just ignore the past twenty years. I have the first couple of issues myself but haven't got around to watching any of it yet.

I have just sold the entire VHS collection and there doesn't appear to be any difference.
