british super feather eliminator

Post by maley1984 »

Male & James Go Head-To-Head In British Eliminator: Cradley’s Chris Male and Coventry’s Troy James are set to go head to head for a shot at the British Super Featherweight Title.

The Midlands pair meet in a Final Eliminator at the Copthorne Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday, 14th September in what is an intriguing contest between two well-matched opponents.

30 year-old Male (12-1) retired from the sport following a points loss to Leeds' Josh Warrington for the vacant English title back in November 2012 but made a u-turn soon after. His last outing was a convincing points victory over durable Slovakian, Elemir Rafael, in May
...
James (14-2), who has appeared in Prizefighter and fought Terry Flannigan for the English strap last year, goes into the contest on the back of two victories in 2013. ‘Terrifying Troy’ defeated Ivan Godor on points back in May before claiming a similar victory over ‘Gypsy Boy’ Billy Smith, who sadly took his own life earlier this week.

Wales’ Gary Buckland (27-2) is the current British Super Featherweight Champion but he puts the belt on the line next month when he takes on Liverpool’s Stephen ‘Swifty’ Smith (16-1). The victor of that contest, which takes place in Cardiff on 17th August, will face the winner of Male and James later in the year.

"Becoming a British Champion is what I've always wanted,” Male told www.uko-boxing.com. “If I can get Troy out the way, I'm one step closer to that goal.”

“It’s a massive night for me,” added James. "I'll be attacking this fight, but no question I have to be on my toes. There will be fireworks and plenty of non-stop action all the way through."

Dudley’s undefeated light-middleweight, Kyle Spencer (6-0), Stourbridge’s former Midlands Area Welterweight Champion, Steven Pearce (7-2), and Gornal prospect Lance Brooks (2-0) all feature on the undercard of EJKO’s show.

The format of the evening is a Boxing Dinner Show. Tickets are priced at £55 to include a sumptuous three-course meal. VIP Ringside tables (of ten) are available at £100 per person to include a three-course meal and complimentary bottles of wine. British Lightweight Champion, Martin Gethin, and former British Welterweight Champion, Young Mutley, will both be present in VIP.

Tickets can be purchased by calling either 07780 505 743 or 07581 131 745.

his boxed in a catch weight between 9st and 9'4 on the day weigh-in. only twice has he boxed at featherweight limit for titles. the heaviest he has weighed is 9st 6. but he has fought at lightweight aswell giving weight away just to get fights.

This is a good 50/50 fight. I do agree though that its not a final eliminator.. Would love to see the winner of this fight in with Ronnie Clark. When Buckland vacates then this title will be hotly contested.. It's destined to come up to Scotland and in specific Dundee ;).. Ha good luck to both lads I don't normally sit on the fence but genuinely can't call this one :)

it is a final eliminator mate passed by the board. as for ronnie he needs to get some more wins to push on towards a title fight it is a wide open divison once buckland moves on.

Good luck with the fight. Don't agree at all due to Chris ony having 3 more fights than ronnie that are all bar 1 under the weight. Te division will hear up when buckling vacates with some cracking fights. But ronnie record is often overlook with him fighting alot of undefeated fighter and journeymen he has fought have came to give it a go:)

Can't see how anyone could make a realistic claim that Ronnie Clark deserves a British title eliminator, the 2 lads in the eliminator are ahead of him along with Sykes, Jones and Foster.

to be fair mate every time ronnie has stepped against an unbeatean fighter he hasnt won bar 1 fight(3-0) he drew with maxi ( no disgrace in that) and drew with a super ban n walsh. chris has beaten an unbeaten fighter and the board know how he was avoided at feather by unbeaten fighters until josh warrington took the fight for english title
also go on chris's record and check his weights 4 times at sf limit. also check ronnies weights his only boxed twice at sf limit (for title) and his other weights r alot higher than chris's

He drew twice away from home. Both Maxi and Ryan were meant to be a level above Ronnie and Ryan is mandatory for Selby at Featherweight. I was at Both fights and he definitely won both. Lets be straight Chris hasn't fought anyone at that level.. As for deserving a British title eliminator he probably doesn't at this minute in time but neither do these 2 guys. Gary Sykes is the one in the driving seat. Some people on here might not rate Ronnie but trust me the fighters do.. As for Ronnie's weight he needs to fight bigger guys so many people have said no to fighting him in the past he's a big Super Feather but he makes it very easily

chris fought warrington english champ and beat unbeaten liam richards at the time( granted at feather and was avoided by some real so called big names) id say warrington is ahead of walsh just his manager is waiting for selby ( who looks world class) to move on josh is young good management. skyes has an agreement in place to fight winner of buckland smith already so the winner of chris/troy will b mandatory good match making u got to get in quick. got no problem with ronnie i like him on here and his building a decent record like i said he needs a few more wins.

This is a Eliminator & NOT a final Eliminator by the way.

How does Troy not deserve this Eliminator daviddee ?
He's had 17 fights only losing to Rhys Roberts in prizefighter semi at featherweight where he was weight drained which he should of won anyway but lost by 1 point, all Rhys did was hold and run, then he pushed the very very talented Terry Flannigan the distance for the English title and was very unlucky not to have stopped Flannigan in the 7th round of that fight, ( the Ref allowed Terry lots of chances and to take a lot of unanswered shot on the ropes while he was hurt ) fair play to him he dug deep, who has gone on to beat some great fighters shortly afterwards including Sykes, Derry Mathews & former world champion Nate Campbell, in Terry's own words Troy has been his toughest fight to date, thats the only 2 losses on his record, both fighters that are absolute levels above Clark, which is no disrespect to him has hes still only early in his career and imo believe he will do well with more experience. Troy has been battling away for over 4 years now has a pro with no big backer, promoter or manager, so explain to me how he doesn't deserve this opportunity ? I think he's more than earned this chance.

Correct me if I'm wrong mate, but Clark has fought Journeymen except the one win against another unbeaten kid, Edwards who no disrespect is poor, he was lucky to win his debut and dropped rounds in all his 3 fights before he fought Clark, and hasnt boxed since, and the only other two times he's stepped up he drew with both guys, so he has built his record doing exactly that.
In saying that, I was in Norwich the night he boxed Walsh and he was unlucky IMO.

The bottom line is Clark is a very good fighter IMO and will get his chance in time after he has won a area title like Troy has and operated at English title level, but until then he will have to wait.

Ronnie can't win an English as he's Scottish:p he was due to fight for a Scottish but nobody fancied it. Fought for a rubbish title but hey. Both fights he drew he had less than a weeks notice. Actually days. Ronnie has never had a proper camp yet and often just ticks over and fights at notice. I apologise as Iv read my post and it's disrespectful as these guys have worked hard to get where they are I just want to see ronnie be given chances really at good notice and showcase his talents on a bigger stage. :) would like to see all of these guys fight each other. Both these have took hard fights and don't avoid people it seems:)

I have said all along Troy is one of the most under rated guys in the Super featherweight division.. If the fight was against Ben Jones or Gary Sykes then I would agree final eliminator. Chris hasn't fought anyone at Super Featherweight and is why I said there was a couple of fighters ahead of them.. As I said this is a hard fight to call.. Ronnie's is at this level and these fights would all be good.. I seen on Eastside boxing someone had said this division isn't strong in the uk.. I think this is a very strong division

I had to re read that. Your saying that James had only lost twice, which on paper is good but he's been beat everytime he's stepped up. Enough of blaming refs and being weight drained he was beat. Infact he's only ever beat 1 opponent with a winning record!!! And that merits a eliminator and makes his levels above Clark, who is still undefeated???

Yh I see what you mean regarding Male, I think that's why this is only a Eliminator and not a final eliminator. Yh I think there's some good young kids coming through that make this division a very good one to be in over the next 18months

While it's a reasonably strong division domestically, no fighter at the weight has shown themselves to be above domestic level. I would say that BW, SBW, LW, WW, MW, SMW, LHW and HW are definitely stronger along with possibly FW and LWW.

sykes has got the winner of buckland smith it was already agreed. chris and troy both hav boxed at a higher level ( both lost granted but) ronnies best win is points over curren both lads beat curren chris stopped him. u know how the match up weights get agreed at catch weight chris has fought closer to the sf limit more times than ronnie. the board are also a where of how many lads hav turned down the chance to fight chris so they agreed to make a local derby between 2 evenly matched fighters. ronnie will get his chance for sure his just got to keep winning. good match making and their managers r on the ball saw a chance spoke agreed and went to the board. happy days

Chris has picked up an injury to his calf and has had to pull out of the fight. His already missed a weeks training and been told he needs a further 3 weeks rest min. His gutted and had hoped the show cud b put back with it being a big chance for both lads to get in the british title mix. But it looks like troy is now boxing for the british masters title on the show(I think the @boxingcutsmen will confirm that)
