That's because hardly anyone knows about Gavin vs Skeete. It's a rubbish fight and it will get slagged off.los2 wrote:senchenko was world champ and brook gets criticised for boxing him.....world-class gavin (older than brook) will fight bradley skeete next( ranked 189 in the world) and no-0ne bats an eyelid...only on t'internet...
Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?

Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
No one thinks Kel is a bad fighter. He's clearly talented and people get frustrated when they see a good boxer move along at a snails pace. When a decent fight is finally made. It doesn't go ahead and it makes people even more frustrated than they were before.
Kell is Britain's most boring active boxer career-wise for the talent he has. Cleverly was probably second but he's putting things right by defending his title against Sergey Kovalev. If Nathan beats Sergey Kovalev then he fully deserves that belt around his waist. Kovalev is actually the favorite with the bookies.

Any worse than Stuart Elwell when Brook was at a similar stage(but with only one title and not as good wins on his record)?
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
Skeete is a tough fight for most anyone, very long and he knows what he's doing; it will get slagged off because every bout has to be top world class.Horse wrote:That's because hardly anyone knows about Gavin vs Skeete. BoxRec have him ranked at 17th in Britain. The BBBofC should not allow Skeete to fight for the British title.palooka wrote:Skeete is a tough fight for most anyone, very long and he knows what he's doing; it will get slagged off because every bout has to be top world class.
He is a woeful opponent for Gavin.
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
There's only Khan, Brook, Gavin, Purdy and Lynes that would have a clue what to with Skeete.
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
If he's so great then why has he not been put in with anyone half decent yet?palooka wrote:There's only Khan, Brook, Gavin, Purdy and Lynes that would have a clue what to with Skeete.
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
He is next time out and I can't see anyone really fancying the job, maybe him being a tough ask makes it's own problems?
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
He might be older than Kell but he turned over 4 years later so thats why he's fighting weak opposition!los2 wrote:senchenko was world champ and brook gets criticised for boxing him.....world-class gavin (older than brook) will fight bradley skeete next( ranked 189 in the world) and no-0ne bats an eyelid...only on t'internet...

Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
I watched them both live once, at th M.E.N. Kell was the current British champion and boxed early, off tv in front of, I would guess, a thousand spectators. He probably sold personally less than 200. Gavin was the first fight of the live broadcast, his third bout. I would say he sold 600. Gavin is now a double champion and Kell no further on, achievement wise, from that very night...
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
The Skeete fight is now off, seems Skeete never accepted the offer but Frankie was told or believed he had.

Would have been horrible to watch any road '' styles make'' and all that..expe wrote:The Skeete fight is now off, seems Skeete never accepted the offer but Frankie was told or believed he had.

Kell has since boxed in front of 10,000 and become the IBF mandatory challenger as you well know.mickey1975 wrote:I watched them both live once, at th M.E.N. In mickeys world Frankie should be a hall-of-famer after beating Vassell.

Frankie boxed in front of the bigger audience at Upton Park. You still haven't named me who Brook has beat who is better than Denton. Yes, the Hatton fight was sold well but a lot of those have been lost now judging by the last two attendances at the Arena and then them packing him off to Hull. As for the mandatory position, what good is it if you're not going to fight for it? I would love to see them box and my money would be on Gavin. If you have a problem with that fine. Believe me, I am not anti-Kell, just think he will get exposed sooner rather than later.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Kell has since boxed in front of 10,000 and become the IBF mandatory challenger as you well know.mickey1975 wrote:I watched them both live once, at th M.E.N. Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
Gavin is unproven too no?
N'dou, Hatton, Jones, in fact anyone Kell's fought in the last 3 years are all more proven fighters than Gavin or Denton.
I rate Funtime he could really do something at World level one day.IMO
Kell got an injury that robbed him of this chance.
Believe it or don't that's your call to make he is a decent kid who has had shit luck .
Yes he has been flavour of the month and had loads of exposure, plaudits and no one is more frustrated at the lack of fruit from all that as Kell.
Boxing people proper knowledgeable people rate him and have stuck with him would they do that if he was tossing it off or bottling it they would know long before you or I and would expose it.
Like they did when Frankie was not living the life he got exposed for his own good sorted his life out and is looking good again but people wouldn't waste their time watching him waste his obvious talent.
Would it be any different for any other fighter I hope not its a tough enough game.
You wouldn't choose a boxing career go through blood sweat and tears literally year on year beat everyone you had too on your way to the top and bottle it.
He was robbed by injury and yes the chasing pack are closing and yes his time is ticking that's life but it's not his doing he is in this position.
Boxers don't scare easily especially one's with Kells ability and the fact is he loves it fighting the limelight the lot he didn't throw it away it was just pulled a bit further out of reach.
You asked why people jump to his defence its because life can be shite but if you keep trying when everyone's slagging you and the right minded people see that they will stick with you and rightly so IMO.

Are we talking boring to watch, or are we talking about boring, as in worst list of opponentsmacaca wrote:Ricky Burns has to be up there but that kid that quit I will remember for ever, did he actually break a hand or his heart does anyone know and Nathan Cleverly minus the Bellew scrap
if we are talking boring to watch, i would not class brook, burns or cleverly as boring.
i think the term boring is misplaced in this thread as the OP was talking about level of opposition, in which case all 3 of these guys deserve close scrutiny. And having bellew on your CV, does not excuse you from that, bellew is a fringe world level fighter now but had no place fighting for Cleverlys world strap 2 years ago as a relative 16-0 novice.

We're talking about lack of competitive fights, a career that's going nowhere fast.davie wrote:Are we talking boring to watch, or are we talking about boring, as in worst list of opponents
