Happy 56th Birthday Larry Holmes!

Post by kovit »

Today is Larry Holmes' 56th birthday for the former world heavyweight champion. In ESPN's Pardon the Interruption they forgot to mention that today is the 56th birthday of the real Larry Legend of Boxing, Holmes, Larry Holmes not Larry the fake Legend Donald.

Champ no doubt but true champ I'm not so sure. His lack of respect for Marciano and his general claim of being better than Ali and Foreman...he was jealous of Ali, and one more thing....he should never have taken the Ali fight, no matter what...he beat up on an old man who was supposedly his IDOL.......Bet Larry would be so much more respected today if he had of kept his mouth shut about the Rock, and refused to make money beating up the Sad Muhammad.......

If he hadn't made some of the comments that he made then more people would consider him i the same class as Ali.

Time puts all that in perpective, which is why I think his stock goes up as time goes by.

Holmes seems to have had the same problem as Lennox Lewis in that he did not fight his best contemporaries when they were fairly young.

But Marciano fought an old Joe Louis who was His idol, it just sadly the way it seems to go in boxing.
