There may be some suprizes with the IOC watching Boxing closley now. Hopefully the judging will be fair instead of political, like it usually is at this level. Competition at the Worlds is tougher then the Olympics.

By tougher competition, what exactly do you mean. The Olympics is the pinnacle in boxing and the qualification alone for it is very difficult. It gets rid of a lot of the lesser fighters and those who actually get to fight in the games are of a very high standard. How is the worlds tougher??

What I mean by tougher is there are more athletes and countries involved. I agree the Olympic Games and the qualifications is suposed to have the best of the best, but there are a lot of athletes that can rise to the occasion, and styles make fights. You never know in this game.

Tajbert and Makarenko will not participate
Kate at 64 will have difficulties to reach the medals IMO.
Thomas is in very weak form. Somjit's title two years ago was the peak of his career so here i don't think he will make something serious

OK, i'll give my first prediction. However I might change some name before the event begins. Haven't had time to check the biggest tournaments yet.
48 Zou Shiming (Bartelemi is one of my favourites, he was splendid at the olympics but home advantage will prevail.)
51 Georgy Balakshin
54 Guillermo Rigondeaux
57 Alexei Tishenko
60 Serik Sapiyev
64 Inocente Fiss
69 Bakhtiyar Artayev
75 Matvei Korobov
81 Yusiel Napoles
91 Alexander Alekseev
+91 Odlanier Solis

Damn, I didn't know that. Is Stilianov in good shape? Maybe Ugas... but I'm not too sure.

Shtilianov has announced that he quits boxing after "Strandja cup", but he returned back. He trained just 2 months in national team for Worlds. During that time he prepare himself at his club in Sliven. He has great experience.

Rigondeaux is a lock for his weight division. Also theirs a French fighter at 57kg, think his names Khedafi Jhelkhir, he's young and was very impressive about a year ago so he's probably improved even more so. Shame about Tajbert not competing, he's wasting time in the amatuers, he should have turned pro after the Olympic's...

Does anyone know where the draw and results will be posted during the tournament? I would like to keep track of bouts daily.
Thanx in advance.

91 and 91+K

I don't know who will win at 91 or 91K+. I get the feeling promoters will be after the winner.
