Curtis Woodhouse vs Derry Matthews

Post by maverick23 »

This fight has just been announced on twitter by Eddie Hearn.

Good fight although I would have quite liked to have seen the Matthews vs Coyle rematch.

Interesting fight. Back when Woodhouse fought Frankie Gavin I would never have expected this as a future fight.

Very good bout :TU: Derry can't afford to have another 'off night'; Curtis will be balls deep into this one; when's it happening?

Delighted for Woodhouse,he,s been waiting a long time for a major title shot he deserves it,gonna be a tough fight for him but he,s definitely capable of getting a win,Mathews wasnt great in his last fight but still produced the goods when it mattered but how many times can he keep going to the well,i would never write him off but i think if Curtis could perform as he did against albeit much weaker Joe Elfidh and use the same tactics, controlled aggresion and precise punching then it could be his night,we know he wont have to go looking for Derry, looking forward to this one :box:

Same night as the Copperbox and the night after Dave Coldwells Manchester show. Quite a weekend.

Also on the bill at the Liverpool Olympia will be Liam Beefy Smith vs. Erick Ochieng for the British Light-Middleweight title, Callum Smith, Tom Stalker and Rock Fielding, it's going to be some night.

Why the fvck does Hearn have to create so many clashes of shows?

I would have thought a bill like that would need somewhere bigger than The Olympia.

Think it might be Fielding v Dodson too. This should easily sell out the olympia.

About time Fielding had a test. Would rather him fight someone younger like Luke Blackledge.

When Smith called his name after beating Dodson he looked a little nervous; he's in the spotlight a bit early, he's learning his game; I thought Dodson had packed it in?

At least the Tommy Coyle fight will still be fresh in the memory going into this one Curtis,a constant reminder NEVER switch off when you fight Derry Mathews, you,ll have to be switched on for the full 12 rounds and im sure you dont need armchair fans like me telling you dont let Derry drag you into his kind of fight

Obviously it`s a date that works well for Sky,the Brook fight was originaly for this date.Idealy there would be no clashes but they happen it just the way it is.

I heard somewhere that Derry Matthews was a scouser from Liverpool? I'd never have known, he doesn't mention it at all.

I like this fight a lot though.
