Boxing on wikipedia

don't know if people on this site have come accross wikipedia but it is an open sourced ensyclopedia on the internet which people can add to as they wanted, I was brousing it today and found that there are supprisingly few contepry or past boxers on there but for some of the champions and the usuall Ali, Le Motta ect. I thought it might be a good idea if some of the people who post regularly on this site wrote a few as it would enrich the websight and make boxing history more accesible.

boxrec editors is the reason for the wikipedia boxing section as editors from this site have done most of the work over there. The guys have only been working on it for maybe a year, but it will be just like the record database here in a few years. I would like to add to it, but I haven't taken the time to learn how it operates. One of the gems of the boxing section is the Ring magazine cover section, which Ric has worked to complete and several others have helped by sending him jpegs of Ring covers. It a few years it could be the definative history source on boxing.

Keep in mind that there is a main Wikipedia that Josh is talking about. But BoxRec has its own Boxing Wikipedia, separate from the main one. Ours IS NOT as lacking as the main Wiki. Ours is here:

That's my understanding. What we contribute does not go into the Main Wikipedia, although ours looks and operates much the same. And using the search engine box of OUR 'Pedia will not locate results from the Main 'Pedia. Shep can clarify.
