I have a replica wbc belt and on one of the panels is Holyfield. I would love to get it signed by him while over the uk. What would be the best way to go about this? I am based in London.
Re: Holyfield in UK
he was due to be in london but it might be off, i spoke with dan the guy that organised it and he said holyfield probably can't make it as he's over booked ... the phone number above me is the organisers number ..BillyTKid wrote:I have a replica wbc belt and on one of the panels is Holyfield. I'm booked for the Dunston / Gateshead event - 18 September - Holyfield & Danny Williams.
Private meet & greet limited to 10 people, signed glove, photo etc - ain't cheap, but it's not everyday you get to meet a living legend
(plus meeting Danny Williams will be a bonus).

I'll also be at the Gateshead show, as long as Holyfield doesn't star preaching about God it should be one of the better ones.

Re: Holyfield in UK
Both Holyfield & Williams have been heavilly muscled over the years - unnaturally so - and this has inevitably prompted speculation that both may be 'on' something.los2 wrote:is anyone going to ask him about this?....

Williams refused a drugs test after his fight with Hammer - he said he didn't need one as he was retiring.
I doubt it will get asked in the 'public' Q&As, as the event organiser is likely to 'control' what gets asked. He won't want any loose cannons rolling around asking controversial questions
Maybe there will be chance in the private meet up - all depends how brave i'm feeling on the night lol!!

Holyfield is in UK, anyone going?
Holyfield is about to start a short whistlestop tour of the UK and there's a few evenings with him arranged. There a one in Newcastle on 18th Sept.
Anyone know any other dates/locations?

Re: Holyfield is in UK, anyone going?
I've been to a few and its hit or miss, good or bad. Depends who it is, and who is organising it. I really enjoyed Tyson, my mate with an inferior ticket didn't. Tyson even pretended he wanted to be there, he held his tongue but then he was asked a particular question, and wham, Tyson was back.MachoMan09 wrote:I'm not going. I hope everyone who is has a great time though. I understand there are a lot of people who really like sportsman's dinners, I'm not one of them. Never seen the appeal.
I had a decent ticket for Gazza, but he seemed quite shy in person but once he got into telling stories on stage he became more like what I'd expected. I use those two examples as they are pertinent, given I was around 11/12/13 when they were in their pomp. They were two idols of mine, when I was at an age naive enough to idolise. Given twenty years of learning more about life and more about the 'demons' of the two, I really wanted to see for myself and make my own opinion. Others I've gone to, because they were local, other local ones I've missed, because I couldn't be arsed. As I say, it all depends. I imagine if you go to them quite regular they become quite repetitive.

He's down in Portsmouth. Can't see it being busy as you can buy a row of houses there for what they're charging for a ticket - £120.Clint Magnum wrote:Holyfield is about to start a short whistlestop tour of the UK and there's a few evenings with him arranged. There a one in Newcastle on 18th Sept.

Re: Holyfield in UK
Where are the guys advertising on the back of Boxing News getting their prices from? Tickets from £125-£250? You get the same at York Racecourse for £50-£100. He is coming to Henry Wharton's gym for free too. I've met him before and he was mute! Don't think he has a great deal of chat him in. Legend though, no doubt about that.
Re: Holyfield in UK
Clifton Mitchell is running an evening with evander in derby but I am not sure of the date prices etc

I'm currently sitting here in Gateshead listening to Holyfield mumbling on about nothing, it's now turned into white noise!
