I like the guy and it pains me to say this... but he's getting Rick-rolled !
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
When did you see them spar, how long ago and why do you think Groves has gone for this when he could have targeted other champions?
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
There won't be any difference in Groves' power in this fight when compared to his other fights. No fighter suddenly doesn't hit as hard when they reach world level and there are still good chins and bad chins. The difference is that they land less. Groves has the power to hurt Froch, it's down to whether he can land consistently enough to worry Froch with the power, because it's hard to see him being taken out with one shot.Riddick Blowe wrote:Groves has done nothing to suggest he is a big puncher at world level, or at least a big enough puncher to even get the respect of Froch, let alone hurt him.
Nothing!
Sierra? Paul Smith? Give me a break. Please.
Froch is not going to be troubled once in this fight.
As a separate point, Carl Froch is 36 years old, age will catch up with him eventually and he's been in a lot of tough fights.

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
I really do rate Groves and do give him a chance in this one, but Froch is the better fighter for me and my money would be on carl.
i regularly see people saying, "this guy wins all day long!" or "this guy doesn't have a chance against that guy."
i don't buy into that, i see things as percentages and this probably a 60/40 fight for froch in my opinion. if they fought ten times....well you can do the maths
grove has a chance but i wouldn't fancy him too strongly to get the win.
but anyone who looks at these 2 fighters and their respective attributes and states plainly that either guy has no chance, is daft in my opinion. i've seen too many shocks in this sport to think that a relatively close fight like this is goiung to be a whitewash.
it's not quite a 50/50 pick em fight, but either guy has a chance

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
I think Groves is a quality fighter who is getting better all the time but Froch is a tough bastard to beat! He would of definietly been better served getting a fight with say Stieglitz or Abraham and then depending on how he fared then went after Carl and gave it his best shot! I still think Froch would win but it's no disgrace losing to Froch.palooka wrote:I think this is another good postdavie wrote:I really do rate Groves and do give him a chance in this one, but Froch is the better fighter for me and my money would be on carl.

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
If Froch smashed Groves about in sparring then he may well imagine that things will be the same; I can imagine that George went in with a World Champion with a sparring partners' mentality; come fight time though he is there to do his level best for himself and his family; he'll put what he has in to it.

I think it's safe to say they are good friends. Hopefully one of George's mates will turn up to level things out a bit.columbo wrote:How well do you actually know Froch then Gomez?G0mez wrote:As someone who has stood and watched them spar - Deluded.palooka wrote:

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
It's going to be fun but unless Froch suddenly got old I find it hard to see George making the final bell, and I say that as a fan of both.
I have this hunch still that Degale will win a title first, and if Froch really does a number on George (which is very likely) then Groves might not come back too well.

Haha. Has Haye or Booth ever frequented these forums to your knowledge Mickey?
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
They still do I'm sure. But I doubt they'd identify themselves.
Haye is probably a great troll. He probably starts all the Manuel Charr threads.

I hope not, George is very good to watch.clopixolacuphase wrote:It's going to be fun but unless Froch suddenly got old I find it hard to see George making the final bell, and I say that as a fan of both.

If it's not happening for him , hopefully they do the right thing though before it goes too far.
Like people say, Carl is no spring chicken etc, lots of wars - it does happen, but from what I know of Carl, he will bow out of boxing fit and strong and not a shell.
His dad is 50 odd and has a six pack and doesn't work out, so there you go.

He's just naturally thin I think. I think it's a cracking match up all the same. Big respect for Groves and you already know he'll give everything he has to try and win this.MightyWarrior wrote:No I don't see that happening, just think Groves hits hard enough to get Carl's respect. If I was betting the house you'd have to go with Carl, by KO, but Groves is a very live underdog.Kilburn wrote:Groves by KO? Really? Surely the only way Groves can win this is if he successfully replicates Andre Ward's style and fitness level.
Neither is happening any time soon.
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Groves has the ability & if you don't believe that then you really don't know jack!
Good thing about haye/ booth is they can't really guide or build a fighter they have to strike for jackpot & to defeat froch at this stage kerching!!
Froch is riding on a crest at the minute & is at his best form on paper I'd fancy him the favourite but I wouldn't scupper groves chance's.
Groves could get crushed but then where does froch go if he loses??
Who does groves defend against??kessler, degale,

While I don't completely write off the saints chances, as ever its all about levels.
Forget Johnson as the common opponent. He came for a payday and glorified spar over here.
Froch to win in mid to late rounds for me.
