England are currently suspended by the AIBA,so twelve boys have missed out on a chance to compete here-very unfair on 13/14 year olds
European Schoolboys Championship
Re: European Schoolboys Championship
I'm suprised England has not yet given up and did what is necessary to get suspension lifted. Very unfair to all the kids

The British Olympic Association stepped in citing AIBA rules that would allow the English lads to box. AIBA didn't reply...scallum wrote:I'm suprised England has not yet given up and did what is necessary to get suspension lifted. Very unfair to all the kids
Do you actually know what ABAE have to do to get the suspension lifted?
Re: European Schoolboys Championship
I don't have any idea but I'm sure Abae was warned on more than one occasion. Usa actually went thru same ssituation and there was enormous feeling of being unfair to the kids training for events and Usa boxing did what was required to get off suspensionTarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote:The British Olympic Association stepped in citing AIBA rules that would allow the English lads to box. The kids sacrifice blood ,sweat and tears I personally would never do anything to get in the way of kids dreamsTarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote:The British Olympic Association stepped in citing AIBA rules that would allow the English lads to box. Re: European Schoolboys Championship
I'm afraid us Brits put principles first. The funding body for English boxing is Sport England. They give a million pounds to help run the sport. AIBA consider their involvement in developing the new constitution as against their rules. Should we say goodbye to the money because of AIBA's say so which would decimate the sport or put the dreams of 15 kids first?
By an overwhelming majority most people believe that the 10k weight difference between light heavy and heavy is unsafe so we run cruiser weight in our domestic championship. Should we bend on this point if safety just to appease AIBA?

Are you guys still doing bouts anyhow in England? Our whole program in Entire Usa was on brink of suspension so Usa boxing had to follow the rules. I don't think you guys can ever do anything international boxing wise until matter is settled, is that worth it?Tarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote:I'm afraid us Brits put principles first. Re: European Schoolboys Championship
Again you miss the point. We HAVE to stand up for what we believe is right first. There is a strong definition between the amateur and professional codes in the UK with thousands of volunteers giving up their time to coach kids and adults. We don't want to become pseudo professionals yet AIBA insist we must!
We have a crazy situation where headguards are now considered to be dangerous for seniors but not for women or youths! We all know it's a bullshit way to present amateur boxing as a challenge to the pros but on health, safety and insurance grounds we should have the right to make our own choices.
The bottom line here is that the reasons given for England's suspension have nothing to do with the actual facts which are more about the removal of people who AIBA don't like with people who will salute at their every call and chase the $$$$$$$ with them.
If Englands stand effects international competition for a while then so be it.
