Just noticed Egobi v Briggs is scheduled for the vacant Australian heavyweight championship, and I wondered why it was vacant. Looked up the title history here:

And saw this is the fifth consecutive vacant Aussie HW title fight. I know Kirby had to retire, but what about the other guys who won the belt? Why didn't they want to defend?
Why doesn't anyone defend the Aussie HW belt.

Whitehead also retired. Browne won WBF world title @ Haumono won OPBF title.

I didn't know that fight had been made. When is it?adamheight wrote:i know its a bit unrelated but in the sunday mail yesterday they reported the browne v leapai will be a main event ppv jobby. was a bit surprised by this. im not sure either guy has the profile to be a ppv pull?
As for the PPV, let's just say there has been much worse dished up on that platform in Australia. You're probably right about their profiles, but the existing boxing fans will surely prefer to spend on that than some of the Mundine farces.
