You don't put Vaseline into a cut (it can cause untold problems and won't allow the cut to heal correctly unless the doctor/medic cleans it out thoroughly before stitching) you should only use it to seal the cut by wiping it over the top.
please explain to me how wiping it over the top of a cut prevents it going into a cut? its impossible to do this if its an open cut, and all cuts are open cuts unless sutured or otherwise approximated. all....I repeat all cutsmen smother cuts with Vaseline to prevent bleeding simply by blocking the vessels with Vaseline. however wrong it is......they all do it

It doesn't but any cutsman worth his salt uses adrenaline to stop the bleeding and pinch the cut together before applying vas over the top. It may get into the cut but it's a damn site less than "plugging" the cut with it. The adrenaline shrinks the blood vessles first.

lol...'pinching' the cut together does not remotely help it close. I do understand what you mean but in reality your argument is about as fruitful as a blade of grass.

You misunderstand. I meant putting an adrenaline soaked swab in the cut and pinching. Ive been lucky enough to see the best cutsmen in the country at work and this is how they operate. If the cutsman simply smothers the cuts in Vaseline as you say to "block" the blood vessles why do they need to use adrenaline at all? Perhaps you need to do a bit more research. If your in the game have been you been to the BBBofC run trainer/seconds course? It's very good and will tell you all you need to know about treating various cuts.

yes I agree and im led to believe its a good course, however, watch fights, the last thing the majority of cutsmen do is smother everything in Vaseline. its definitely wrong, but they do it.

Yes after they have had an adrenaline soaked swab into the cut for 50 seconds. Getting back to my origianl point. The chaps in the video were using the substance in the same way adrenaline is administered so it's some sort of coagulant. They wouldn't just stick loads of Vaseline straight into the cut. My guess would be that they are using some sort of Avitene paste solution.

I remember reading in Ricky Hattons autobiography how when he was getting bother with his eyes with cuts how when he went for surgery and the doctors had to scrape out all the rotton vaseline that had been shoved in his cuts over the years

It solidifies under the skin once it's stitched up, you have to make sure a cut is cleaned out before it is stitched!!

interestingly.... if the solutions you are allowed to use are Vaseline and adrenaline, are you allowed to mix together the 2?
