Thomas Hearns comeback, out of retirement?
Thomas Hearns comeback, out of retirement?
When Tommy Hearns came back mid 2000s for a few fights, what was the reasoning does anyone know? Was he short of cash, thought he still had it? Anyone?

When I saw the title of your thread, I first thought "God, no, Tommy, please don't."macaca wrote:When Tommy Hearns came back mid 2000s for a few fights, what was the reasoning does anyone know? Was he short of cash, thought he still had it? Anyone?

Money problems. Sadly, the Hitman is supposedly broke now.

That's so unfortunate given all the money he made.montrealsuper wrote:Money problems. Sadly, the Hitman is supposedly broke now.

Hearns is a super nice guy and very generous. Imagine there were a lot of mouths to feed and friends in need in Detroit.Rover wrote:That's so unfortunate given all the money he made.montrealsuper wrote:Money problems. Sadly, the Hitman is supposedly broke now.

A lot of friends just interested in money, unfortunately. Too bad.montrealsuper wrote:Hearns is a super nice guy and very generous. If only boxers understood that they really DO have the power to keep their own fortune for themselves.
If every time a friend asked for a loan, they simply knocked the potential borrower on their ass, they would be able to keep more of their own money.
It's what the banks do.

I know my good friend Bobby Gunn was in talks of fighting the comebacking Hearns, but it never came off.

These big name ex fighters broke in the sense they are working in 9-5 factory jobs, scraping by to make ends meet like other poor lower class Americans?
I could imagine, a guy like Hearns could make decent money traveling overseas, speaking in seminars, writing books, training young boxers etc. I think you will find he still earns more money than the average working wage.

It wasn't money, though I know he has struggled there.
