Very easy to like is David Price. I hope he can come back and surprise people.
Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Adam Booth could possibly do a good job with Price I think with his scientific approach.Karl Jade wrote:Needs to go with FW and find a new trainer.

Agreed, he's candid, respectful, self-aware, and comedic in equal measure. I mean, that last answer sums him up. I really hope he gets some momentum and can build again.loaded_gloves wrote:Very easy to like is David Price. I hope he can come back and surprise people.

Can't help but agree with everyone else on here - cracking interview and what a top, top guy. Really wish him all the best.
Easy to overlook, but also a classy touch from Haye to give him a call afterwards.

He should not have had the immediate rematch which Frank Maloney mentioned he did not want post fight but did it because Price was desperate for it.
Tony Thompson was also spot on in saying the Lennox Lewis could not changes Prices style drastically in one training camp.
David is still a top bloke and I wish him all the best.
I have heard Price didn't want the original fight, and didn't want the rematch either !
Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Seems worth giving a sports psychologist a try. Might help him cope with the pressure better, which in tern might stop him from getting tiring out too fast.

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Yeah id go with that,i think he could with some sports psychology simalar to what Brian Rose had,not that Davids had to go through anything as serious as him but he does need some rebuilding mentally IMO,i think he,s cut from the same cloth as Wlad,Price knows the situation and he,s not deluded enough to blame it on Lennox or whatever,he knows somethings wrong and he wants to find out what it is adress it ASAPJ-C wrote:Seems worth giving a sports psychologist a try. It was worrying how he gassed in the rematch so for that reason im not so sure Adam Booth might be the man as David Haye has had some stamina issues himself
IMO Price just needs to reign it back a bit,go back to domestic level, have another 1 or 2 fights there then go the European route and make a few defences there if he can get that title, theres absolutely no rush for Price and he wants to make sure he,s well equipped and has the experience when he finally steps up to World level
I still have faith in David Price and he can win a world title one day, whether its against a Klitschko remains to be seen but i just want him to wait say 3 years,no rush

He,s right when he says he stood up to some big punches from Thompson
Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Great interview and as others have said he's honest and a really decent bloke. There's definitely fights out there for him and I totally agree about the mis-management of his career.
Maloney just seems to want to give them knockovers for 10 fights no matter who they are, but Price needed rounds and needed at least fairly competitive matches.
It does sound like he overtrained or maybe even got a virus or something, but at this moment it can all sound like excuses. Personally I think there are massive questions over him in terms of how he can cope in a proper fight, this is the first time someone really came back at him and could take his digs and he came up massively short.
Interesting to hear what Adam Booth said about it being totally mental side of things, how he looked to have totally melted down in the pressure situation of having lost the first fight.
I still have a lot of interest in David's career though, it will be intriguing now to see how he does come back, there is still surely a TV deal on allegedly ready and waiting for him, god they give Enzo enough fights on there and he's shot to sh*t.

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
That's another reason why I think Booth could help Price! If there's one thing Booth is good at when it comes to fighters its the psychological aspect. I have the feeling he would be very good at making his fighters feel like a million dollars and have total belief in themselves! I think he had a big impact in how Groves dealt with all the bile coming out of Degales mouth in the lead up to their fight and not fight on anger. He's a smug fornicator Booth but he's a smart guy for sure.TheCobra wrote:Great interview and as others have said he's honest and a really decent bloke. He is a likeable chap and its easy to see why people want him to do well.
He needs to get rid of the kangaroo bounce! Would be nice to see him use his physical advantages too.
He is 6'9 yet stands about 6'5 when you take in to account his hunch!

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
The hunch/posture issue is a lack of confidence I think! It must be hard being that tall and not feeling a bit of a freak to be honest because of how unusual it is! He also paws with the jab and it would be better if he really rammed it home properly. I think the issue though is that he's worried about being countered off the jab and that's why he doesnt fully commit to it.lillywhite14 wrote:He is a likeable chap and its easy to see why people want him to do well.

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
I would love to be 6'9
I'm 6'4 and a half and although tall, would love to be even taller!
You do see a lot of tall people hunch over though. Shame
The jab is an issue for him and Fury. Neither have a good enough jab for their size. With such natural advantages it could be such a weapon if utilised. Won't change now, both are too long in the tooth to suddenly develop a ram rod jab.

That is one superb interview. Painfully honest. One of the best things I have read on boxing for some time.
I thought there was a chance a "virus" story or similar might have been sent out as he looked so listless and gassed. Refreshing to see him just be so up front about the whole situation.
Think he will have a lot of us in his corner on his comeback. He's definitely got a future at domestic and European level at leasr

Sometimes honesty should be kept to yourself, every possible opponent of Price's now reads that and thinks 'This guys confidence is shot to pieces'.

Didn't he start off with him or was that just as a promoter? I know he has at least worked with him a bit.columbo wrote:Adam Booth could possibly do a good job with Price I think with his scientific approach.Karl Jade wrote:Needs to go with FW and find a new trainer.

Very honest, great to see. Promotionally I'd like to see him go with Warren, for all his faults he has shown he is one of the best, not just domestically, but in the world, at guiding fighters to world level, getting them the right fights at the right time and also finding the easiest route to the top.

I have to say, Price really gained my respect with his frank honesty in that interview. I still don't think he can "take it" enough to ever become a major Heavyweight title threat but I honestly hope he proves me wrong.

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Respect to David for his admirable honesty and humility, but hes just not tough enough to be at the top. He lacks talent to win top fights with ease like some great fighters have so he is going to need to rely on toughness and heart sometimes in fights and to be honest, he is lacking in both areas. You can't become a world champion when you don't believe in yourself. I always got a sense of lacking in confidence from him for one reason or another. He would say things and do things that made me think he was really not confident in himself and his ability. I wish him all the best but in the heavyweight division if you come into a fight with lingering confidence issues, it will only take one solid punch and those issues will come to the forefront of your mind. Doubts, fears etc. Maybe this is what Booth meant when he said Price had a panic attack and literally couldn't fight any more.
Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
Bang in the money about there jabs. Price has become right hand happy & neglected working of the jab & has used it purely to measure the honey shot.lillywhite14 wrote:I would love to be 6'9

Tyson is a work in progress & he does double up which not many do or are good at & has a decent enough southpaw lead but is on need of stiffening up.
Tyson said price is welcome to be trained by his uncle which I felt showed Tyson is caring as much as he is competitive.peter fury is a gent knows his onions & his son is proof he can develop a boxer

Re: David Price. My career is a wreck now.
i hope he carries on.
i got caught up in the PR excitement before the first Thompson fight, but my initial gut reaction when the fight was announced was 'wow that's a huge step up'.
we all have the gift of hindsight but i was fully expecting Price's next fight to be with Sprott...it made perfect sense. With the size and momentum on Price's side he would probably have stopped Sprott early as well....and we wouldnt be in this situation now.
as for the rematch with Thompson? i think it was worth doing
David can still do something at domestic and poss euro level...his power is still a factor

Yeah but if he had stopped Sprott early the hype would of been even worse and the same would of probably happened.funso banjo baby wrote:i hope he carries on.
