I'm 53 and get readings between about 48-54. Got a 44 a few days ago. I'd say it's usually a good sign, but not 100 pct of the time. And can be a symptom of a thyroid problem.

If by a thyroid problem you really mean you're a fat bastard with a medical sounding condition for being a fat bastard, then I have a thyroid problem

Ran 7 miles to work, and took my heart rate 4 mins after stopping and it was 90.

I've really no idea, my girlfriend works as a receptionist in the cardiology department in a hospital, and i asked the cardiologist (shit spelling), he said 'do you feel well' i said yes, he said 'then your ok'

I'm the same. 40+ and a standing heart rate 44-48. One question though, do you find that when you are in a stuffy room, you are always the first to start yawning? I always am. I attributed it to the fact, that with a low heart rate, each beat has to transfer more oxygen around than someone with a faster beat. So if it's stuffy, you're being cheated of oxygen all the time, so your body craves oxygen and starts to gulp it via yawning.

Anything similar happening to you?

Yeah i get that, also a slight flutter if i rest too much. As a bonus of my girlfriend working at the cardiology department i'm being put forward for a heart scan , its so students can check out various scans. Be interesting to see what the results are.

I'm 44 and do about five hours intense exercise per week. My resting heart rate is between 50 and 55, which seems fine to me. If you are noticing unusual symptoms then worth going to GP, but I don't think the heart rate alone is cause for concern. My blood pressure is a bit low sometimes, but again due to good fitness levels rather than medical issues.
