GGG/Joppy.
GGG/Joppy.
How does this one go? Joppy was probably the second best middle a decade ago.
Re: GGG/Joppy.
GGG KO sometime between rounds 4 and 7
Re: GGG/Joppy.
I think he'd stop him also. Julio Cesar Green had Joppy badly hurt. We all saw what Tito did.gilgamesh wrote:GGG KO sometime between rounds 4 and 7
Re: GGG/Joppy.
Too bad we never got to see Joppy vs Holmes.
We had the Joppy(wba)/Hopkins(ibf)/Holmes(wbc) years in the late 90's up to the middleweight tournament.
Hopkins proved clear superior to both of them but Joppy/Holmes was a solid match that was missed in that era.

I'd have gone with Joppy on points.Perseus wrote:Too bad we never got to see Joppy vs Holmes.

Re: GGG/Joppy.
Probably no good for joppy
Re: GGG/Joppy.
I was thinking about this topic, and honestly I gotta say I can't imagine Joppy doing too well with any of the Middleweight greats of the past. Even a lot of the Past Middleweight Contenders would be too much for him.
I think to put Joppy in interesting dream matches, you'd have to put him in against Welterweight greats...and I'd have to favor most of them over him as well
I'm not trying to suggest Joppy just outright sucked or nothing...I just don't think he had anything special to ever get by the Greatest fighters of any particular generation. He's not the strongest guy in the world, he's not a particularly big Middleweight, he's not the slickest boxer in the world.
He was a guy that was good at a lot, but not great at anything.

Re: GGG/Joppy.
I've never heard anyone on here claim he was great or he'd beat the great middles. I put GGG against him because he'd be GGG's toughest test in terms of the comp GGG's fought so far IMO.gilgamesh wrote:I was thinking about this topic, and honestly I gotta say I can't imagine Joppy doing too well with any of the Middleweight greats of the past. I agree with that. Though now that I think about, Macklin vs Joppy would be an interesting fight.Rover wrote:I've never heard anyone on here claim he was great or he'd beat the great middles. Yeah, though I'd take Joppy via decision there.gilgamesh wrote:I agree with that.
