First interview I ever saw with Wilfredo Gomez. Good read. Funny story about his two girlfriends fighting in the dressing room after a fight lol. Boy what a great fghter Bazooka was -- till he ran into Salvador Sanchez.

Anybody ever recall seeing any other interviews with the great Gomez?

That was Wilfredo Gomez's problem....the ladies, even if they weren't the problem, don't see him beating Salvador Sanchez, and Eusebio Pedroza, at his best.

Wilfredo might have been a lil too small for Sanches and Pedroza.

In hind sight It looked like Gomez would never beat Sanchez or Pedroza, but I was never convinced. It looked to me like Gomez totally underestimated Sanchez, as did most people at the time, and he was damaged goods by the end of the first round. Remember, take the 1st round knockdown away and they were almost dead even. Gomez was a great talent with great boxing skills. Even as a "small" featherweight who didn't carry his power to 126, he could compete with the best and I am not convinced Sanchez and Pedroza beat him every time out. As an aside, a fight with Pedroza would have set a record for most low blows and elbows thrown in the modern era. In all likelihood, one of them would have been DQ'd
