Nigel Wright to face Witter?

Post by koomey »

Spennymoor's Nigel Wright looked impressive last night at Glasgow.

Wright stopped McIntyre in the first, avenging his only defeat to move to 15-1. I've followed Wright for a while and he really is coming on well.

The talk of him facing Witter may be a bit premature, it looks more likely that Witter will vacate the British belt and Wright will fight for the vacant title.

Saying that, after Junior's latest two performances anyone could fancy their chances in with him!

Yeah he lives in my hometown same as Kevin Bennett and Michael Hunter. He's a good prospect. As are all of my small towns boxers. :)

Has he moved to Hartlepool, Razor? I thought the lad was from Crook but lived in Spennymoor? I missed all of the action last night but presume he looked good with a result like that.

The knockout punch was pretty much out of the blue, I wasn't expecting an early ko if one at all, I saw the ko highlight on tv when I got back & it didn't look as good a punch as it did in the arena, cracking left hand and McIntyre was well out of it.
I have to give Wright's fans credit too, they've got some balls & weren't giving a shit how far away from home they were, very good vocal support!

Yes, the punch was hard, Nigel does hit with some force it has to be said. I was at was at the Bosworth fight, and even though I'm from the North East, I did find his local fans to be very very very vocal, possibly the loudest fans I've encountered!!

Yeah they keep referring to him in the Hartlepool Mail as a Hartlepool fighter but he is from Crook.

Is he still doing the lifeguard stint at Spenny pool? Lat time I met him (at the Clinton Woods fight) I forgot to ask.
