At jr. welter? Augustus was probably too big there and when Paez fought there he was pretty past prime.

Hmm yeah you're probably right there actually, I always imagine Emanuel as small for his weight and he did fight at lightweight as did Paez :)

I'd pick the Paez of the early 90s at LW. I think of Emanuel as more of a jr. welter probably because of the Ward fight.

Yeah I'd agree and I think it'd be a fun fight. That was a classic with Ward, I had it a draw iirc :)

I mean let's remember who we're talking about here. It's Augustus. If they fought twice, they each would probably win one a piece.

On an on night, Augustus wins a fairly comfortable decision.

On an off night, Which let's be honest was a fairly regular occurrence for Emanuel. Paez could take a close UD or a Split Decision.

Yes I had thought of that, he could also have gotten robbed which happened a lot

Indeed, and Top Rank had Paez's back for a long time. Even though he wasn't a major attraction on TV or whatever, he still fought regularly and drew crowds in Mexico, so if anybody would've had promotional pull here, it would've been Paez.
