He hasn't fought over 12 rounds for a while, but there aren't many opponents out there and he's boxed a couple of times this year and he's done the full 12 five times and been into the 12th in another fight. Re: Frankie gavin vs Bradley pryce
Hatton turned it down, wasn't ready for September, Lynes wanted too much money, Purdy's taking time off to see if he can make the weight, he's already beaten Witter and Vassell and Theophane's on the Mayweather-Alvarez undercard. There aren't many options which is why it's Barnes. Of all the fighter's listed, I can't see any that Gavin would be particularly troubled by.DMA1987 wrote:Oh come on expe, 5 years ago now mate. You're right there but he'd be troubled least by Barnes; he could have had a good European or hard International, no need for a title defense until someone is available who deserves a shot

Re: Frankie gavin vs Bradley pryce
There's quite a few promoters on this site (steffy bull, coldwell, slapbandwallop, olivia goodwin, damian hucker etc), who could have waited for the Senchenko announcement and then topped Wazza's bid by offering £110,000 for Brook to fight their boy, safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't be accepted. They could even extend the bid to Khan and Mayweather.
Brook was previously promoted by this man. Maybe he should have offered it then rather than his last fight against Philip Kotey on the Liverpool undercard. Brook is still the mandatory for Alexander. His purse for the postponed fight was in a different league to the offer. Everybody knows he won't accept a paycut - but it seems to have fooled some blinded by their Frankie manchild love.

Re: Frankie gavin vs Bradley pryce
It seems some people are actually stupid enough to think it was a serious offer more like. Brook isn't going to fight Alexander until March at the earliest and possibly not at all if Alexander is offered the Mayweather fight in May, providing they beat Alvarez and Khan respectively of course. Alexander-Khan isn't signed but I found this with several quotes from Khan.Pugilist-specialist wrote:There's quite a few promoters on this site (steffy bull, coldwell, slapbandwallop, olivia goodwin, damian hucker etc), who could have waited for the Senchenko announcement and then topped Wazza's bid by offering £110,000 for Brook to fight their boy, safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't be accepted. Usual shite - Garcia was lucky and won't agree to a 're-fight' He won't fight Alexander for less than 50-50, because he's the one who can pull a crowd. He also seems to think that he has a TV deal with showtime and Alexander doesn't. Thick fvck, it's Golden Boy's deal and I'm 99.9% certain Alexander's included in that, especially since he was going to fight Brook and then fought Purdy on showtime.

Did he get over £100,000 to fight Jones again? If so I am seriously impressed by Eddie's faith in him. I have congratulated him on his win over old Junior even though he only grew in confidence when he realised the old guy was only using one hand
I actually thought that Yassine El Maachi did a much more convincing job on old Junior.

James, you're going over old ground and it's boring. I haven't said that he's avoiding Adnan. But if you want to pretend that his promoter didn't pull him out of purse bids for the English title fight with him fair enough. You can also imagine him not pulling out of Beijing and not pulling out of fights with Witter, Jason Cook and Frank Horta.JamesH wrote:

Frankie has turned himself around - why do you want to go over this old stuff.
Good luck to Frankie. He's talented but I just don't rate him as highly as some on here. He'll claim the Lonsdale belt next month and then celebrate his 28th birthday.

Lets hope five years after claiming the Lonsdale belt he is not having rematches with Journeymen on debutants undercards and that the Lonsdale is still the peak of his career. Its best Frankie had his crisis early on, though. Imagine if he had it after he got himself into the mandatory position and then had to make his pull outs then? Also, whilst Frankie was going through unimaginable things in his private life, wasn't Kell fighting in pub toilets? And how should I know how much he got for Jones 2? You said he isn't prepared to take a paycut so I presume you really think around 200,000. Maybe knock a 0 off, mate. I have a sneaky feeling you are a fanboy and not an insider as even the insiders are not happy with the way he lives(similar to how Frankie USED to).

Don't need to defend Frankie, he is doing ok as he is. I think Brook's career has gone unbelievably stale over the past year or so. He still hasn't actually beaten anyone and the persistent rumours about his lifestyle, his withdrawals and inability to make weight must concern even his most ardent fans. I know they do his team. Brook won his Lonsdale in 2008 and appears no closer now to winning a genuine World title. Do you call that progress?DMA1987 wrote:Is pulling Brook down the only way you can defend Frankie?mickey1975 wrote:Lets hope five years after claiming the Lonsdale belt he is not having rematches with Journeymen on debutants undercards and that the Lonsdale is still the peak of his career.
