Next year, Sheffield Local TV will be launched.

Available on Freeview, SLTV will be: “ a channel for the Sheffield City Region (South Yorks and N. Derbyshire) that serves the public interest in local news, information, education and entertainment and offers a platform for local talent and creative expression.”

One of the proposals selected for development is a magazine show with news and features from the local combat sports scene- provisionally titled Sheffield Fight City.

The Steel City is a hotbed of the combat sports and has worldwide reputation for excellence but the local media all but ignore this tradition. SFC will aim to give local gyms and fighters the exposure they deserve.

There will be a meeting for interested parties in Sheffield soon.

All levels of experience welcome. SLTV's aim is to provide programmes for the local community produced by members of the local community. Passion for the sport more important than technical expertise as training will be available for various roles. As well as boxing, interest in other martial arts/combat sports would be useful.

I ref on an a nice little white collar event in dinnington (just next to sheffield) , they run it every 3 or 4 months , would be good if some of those local guys at grass roots level could get a bit of exposure , inbox me if you would like their details , ideal for a small tv project as they would jump at the chance so costs would be very low to almost non existant id imagine .

At the moment, we are looking for people to produce / present the show. This is a real opportunity to get involved in broadcasting and to give the sport of boxing more coverage.
