I don't think looking gaunt is anything unusual at a weigh in. You have fighters who have the body type that goes ripped to shreds when they cut weight such as Pacquiao and Lucian Bute and you have the guys who look drawn such as Kelly Pavlik. Both are the result of cutting weight.

I think that's bit unfair on Barker mate - he's had such a clear track record of injuries dogging him in recent years and he always comes across as classy, so if it turns out after the fight he says he was injured in the run-up I'd tend to believe him.
Anyway, here's hoping it doesn't come to that and he wins anyway

Yeah but if his injuries are that bad he should retire already. It's a bit unfair on Geale if he loses to say well I was injured which then takes away from Geales win. It's also an easy thing to say if you do lose to be fair. Like you say Barker comes across as a good guy so I wish him well but I just dont like hearing that kind of thing after fights.

Well he shouldnt make excuses if he loses then. I think if he does lose it wont have anything to do with injuries anyway. Barker has always had quite a lazy style which might not do well against Geale's high workrate.

Barker looked fantastic v Hope; the best I've ever seen him - he was fit and healthy and showed a spiteful streak. He can hit his weight; he'll do his level best and he's not the sort to pull an excuse out if he doesn't do enough.
